ryker-note

im going on spring break to cancun on march 15th and started my treatment on january 6th how should i do my treatment with all the sun i'll see in cancun

thanks

120 mg - thats a heavy duty dose. It will work well, but just keep drinking a shitload of water.

Dude, Sprink Break will be NOT EASY AT ALL for you. You can FORGET getting any type of tan before or during the viist, and you beter have like SPF 40 sunblock.

Trust me, not only will you burn, but you will be dry as hell and hurting if you try to get a tan while on Accutane, especially at 120 mgs.

But trust me, STICK WITH IT. Stay ON for months. These low doses, for like 2 months, are BS. DO THE FULL COURSE. You will be (for the most part) DONE FOREVER with like 90% of your acne problems GONE - IF you stick with the full regimen.

DaMan, you had sides even with 20mg? I am interested in hearing from others who have used low dose treatment (20-40mg ED). I don't think my acne warrants full out treatment with 1mg/kg (in my case, that would be 120mg), but I have heard good things about low dose treatment in the past.

Yes, even at such a dose many people see sides.

This is SERIOUS stuff.

Its not Clearasil.

I strongly suggest that you NOT do a low dose, or one of these "several week long" regimens. Its a waste.

One of the whole REASONs that you do Accutane in the first place is that it GETS RID OF ACNE forever (ok, maybe that not an absolute, but it will very very much lessen problems for a very very long time).

Taking Accutane "until I got rid of my acne" is NOT the way to go. When you do this, you basicallly are using it as like a Super-Clearasil, and going tghrough all of the risks and sides and discomfort for , ... well. .. not very much in my opinion.

Take it, see your acne go way, KEEP TAKING IT FOR THE FULL COURSE .... and in most cases, your acne will NOT come back.

Have you heard the number of people who say "mine came back after a few months .. " or even a year? In MOST cases this is because they did NOT do enough (high enough dose) for a long enough time.

If you are going to go through tht eim, the expsnse, the discomfort, the freegin lip balm, the dry skin, the itching, then do it right.

so ryker should i discontinue use while on spring break or do it but bring spf 60 or so....

also how long is the full regimen ive been on for 5 weeks and wanna start tanning again so bad i hate it!! but im willing to do the accutane fully....

DON'T STOP.

Look stopping for like a week or two wont mae a difference with your ability to tan (or BURN in this case). So just keep going, dont stop for like 1-2 weeks thinking it will make a difference,

And for God's sake dont stop altogether just for Spring Break. Dude, ... just tough it out. I think a full regimen takes like 4-6 months. BUT its a small price to pay for being CLEAR FOR YEARS if not a LIFETIME.

Dont sell yourself short now, dont stop early. Keep going.

Most Docs that know what they are doing will have you go for at least 4 months ( I think its 16-20 weeks but I may be wrong).

BTW, make sure yoru Doc IS checking your blood every few weeks too, to be safe.

Get some SPF 40, and keep going dude. Trust me, you wont be sorry and even YEARS into the future you will be glad that you did this now.

Just think, by June, you will (in all probability) have this ALL behind you, have your acne just about TOTALLY in check, and have time still to get a tan for summer. And for the next few years you will STILL have clear skin!

KEEP GOING !!!!

thanks riker i'll just stick it out like you say...

talk to yaz later...

will it start to clear you think in the next couple weeks considering its been 5 weeks and will be 9 weeks when spring break rolls around???how do you think ???

i htink its past the phase of still being bad...

At this point, 5 weeks, its downhill in terms of actually seeing acne. THAT should just get better and better from now on. Evem if the acne is totally gone, KEEP GOING because its this extra time that will help keep the acne away oin the future. (Many guys will stop accutane after like 4-6 weeks, since their acne has stopped, but then after a few months the acne will come back, thats why they need to stick it out for the full 4-5 months).

However the dryness MAY get worse, so keep drinking water and using sunscreen.

Accutane is basically a synthetic form, of something very similar, to Vitamin A. It is very powerful.
why ot just use high dose of vit. A? :p :mix:
