Another brain fart type of idea I have had:
I have read on this board that when you consume alcohol, as soon as it enters your blood, your body's metabolism shifts entirely to using the alcohol for energy and any other calories consumed with the alcohol will invariably be converted to fat.
So consuming alcohol is a way to "force" you body to burn alcohol and only alcohol for energy. (If I have misinterpreted what I have read correct me)
There are times, especially when on a ketogenic diet (not sure of the word but you know the ultra-high protein and ultra-low everything else diet) where your body is burning protein for fuel and it's not particularly choosy as to whether the protein comes from that chicken breast you just ate or your own muslces. (again correct me if I am wrong)
At times like this, would it be wise to do a couple of shots of vodka to make sure the protein is being used to build muscle and not to provide energy?
Also, is it possible for your body to be syntheszing protein in the muscles while at the same time burning alcohol for energy?
I have head that since most folks work out on a (relatively) empty stomach, towards the end of your workout you are burning muscle for energy. If this is true would throwing in acohol into your post-workout supplementation serve to change your metabolism from protein to alcohol? Or does the 30-50g of dextrose in your post-workout shake serve that purpose (giving your body something other than muscle protein to burn)?
I know this is completely counter the CW of weightlifting (and of my instinct--I most certainly never feel like drinking or going out after my grueling workouts).
Just throwing it out there for comment.
