"Alien" Vs "The Thing" Which Was Better?

While as much as liked Alien I liked "The Thing" better. Kurt Russle was just to cool in that movie. And the plot was so cool too. Now I liked Aliens alot but between the original alien and "The Thing" I think the thing was better. I wonder why they never made a part two of that movie?

The ps2 game that just came out is like a sequel that you get to play to the original movie. You are the leader of a 4 man team that includes a electrician a medic and a soldier that are sent in to find out what happened at the post. And they realize that you could be the thing or the other members could be it. And so the trust factor goes down very trippy game.

So what about ya'll which do you think was better and why and have you played the new "The Thing" game yet?

alien easily

Yea, that was cool but how about when that doc was using the heart jumper cables and they went through his chest and then his chest bit off his hands. Then of course the head squeezed off and turned into a spider head. Too cool. Remember that movie came out in 1982.

I like The Thing better then Alien. It was directed by John Carpenter (holloween, escape from new york).

Its a really cool flick. Great creature effects, excellent suspense, and one of the best endings around. You walk away from the movie with a really paranoid feeling. Great horror flick, a classic for sure.

i wanna play the game 'the thing' :D

u can already be the alien in AVP :D

Ah, you mean the remake of the Thing. I'm not too keen on the gory horror movies. I would choose Alien in this case.

Since I was a kid I watched the classic horror black and white movies whenever they aired. The original Thing is one of my favorites.

There was a black and white before the Kurt Russle one? Was it based in the Antartic too?

The original "The Thing" was filmed in b/w and is set in the arctic as well. It, too, is an awesome film.

These were all based on a science fiction short story entitled "Who Goes There?" by John W. Campbell..

So hengst,

Which one do you think was better the original or the John Carpenter one? I haven't seen it of course but kurt russle did such a dang good job in the Carpenter one. It is hard to imagine another actor doing that good of a job plus the special effects were awesome for a movie that old.

the black and white one was from like the 40's. Very limited in the use of special effects, more like a standard monster movie. I like the John Carpenter version better. It was truer to the written story (which I read before seeing any of the movies) with the shape shifting creature.

Thanks dude. I still wonder why they have never made a sequal. Seems like it would be alot more interesting the than friday the 13 part 20.

"The Thing" is one of my fav. movies of all time. The dvd is excellent, with Kurt and John doing the commentary. There is an 80 min doc. on the movie too.

I actually saw The Thing at the drive-in, back in the early 80's.

I am a big Carpenter Fan and have most of his dvds.

The Thing owz joo......:fro:

Yes. It was aired on the SCIFI channel about five weeks ago. It was shown in the morning and the Carpenter version in the evening.:alien:

Hard to say..I love both movies equally I would say. Chest bursting scene against the head stretching off the table and sprouting legs both compare pretty good.
