ALA results after 3 weeks . . .

I have been reading a lot about ALA so I tried it 3 weeks ago. I bought the 50g of powder from beyond a century and have been taking roughly 1000-1300mg per day, split between 5 meals. I usually mix the ALA in with my protein shakes and I take it before my meal.

The Results:

I am 5'11" and 170lbs. I lost no weight (for real), but my body fat percentage dropped from about 10-11% to about 7-8%. I could barely see my abs before I started and now they are well defined. In addition, my pumps in the gym were crazy and I made modest strength gains over the 3 weeks.

I changed nothing with my diet and/or workout routine. I also did not experience any side effects beside very pungent smelling urine (no worse than smellin shit)

I just wanted to share my results and say that ALA has been one of the most impressive supplements I have ever taken.

One question? Do you think I should lay off the ALA for a while and cycle it, or keep on taking it and up the dosage to about 2000mg a day? any suggestions?? I would also like to hear if anyone else experience similar results.
 
Dude..... these kind of things are exactly what I am looking for to put in my ALA manual. With your permission I would like to add it to my manual under experiences, adn results......

By using the term "i call bullshit" you make yourself sound like a 2 year old. But i digress, i have seen omanaman post before and i dont think he is affiliated with any supp company so the question then becomes "why would he lie?" I have been using the stuff as well the last 2 weeks and have notice better definition as has my girlfriend who didnt know i was using it until 2 days ago. Are you calling bullshit on my girlfriend??

Is it possible that when people take something that they think can work they then amend their diets and routine which contributes to the benefits?? of course. Do i care what the reason is for my recent improvement? no. You dont want to use it? who cares? not me.

And the three stooges (suspension, counterstrike and jordon) you say it was his diet. HOw do you know he changed his diet? In fact he specifically said "I changed nothing with my diet and/or workout routine"
 
For any math guys out there, a loss of 3-4% body fat at 170 equals 5-7 pounds of fat which equals a 17,500-24,500 calorie defecit over 3 weeks. Divide that up over 21 days, you get 833-1166 calorie defecit per day to lose 3-4% body fat in 3 weeks at 170lbs.
 
I can understand the skepticism from u guys . . . .

I would say I shaved between 2-3% of body fat from using ALA and I didn't see any weightloss. I can't give you guys exact numbers because I didn't take any measurements, but I am about as ripped as i was last summer which was around 7-8%. I could barely see my abs before I started.

Also, my diet has been solid for a couple years now. I almost never eat junkfood and my diet is high protein, lots of veggies/fruit, and all whole grains and natural food. I changed nothing when I started taking ALA.

I can't explain it, but ALA has worked fuckin great for me. Its the only supp I've taken that has given me any short term results. I thought it was important to share my results with the board. . . .

"Why would he lie" Wait, I forgot...nobody lies on the Internet! Losing that much pure BF (no muscle mass) in 3 weeks with ALA alone is not possible (DNP maybe?). Ignorant little boy.

Perhaps the ALA worked that great.
Perhaps you thought it was helping-- so it did.
Perhaps you wieghed yourself the first time with a full stomach and water bloat. Then the next time you weighed your were on an empty stomach.

Either way. Thanks for the post. Most people are just mad cause they can't loose thier snack food and soda gut.

Dude, you have to realize your claims (not calling you a liar) are
VERY unrealistic. Maybe you FEEL like you lost that much
body fat. I am not saying you didn't loose, but maybe not that
much. You can't post results like that and expect not to get
flamed! If your claims were TOTALLY accurate, nobody would
need half the drugs they use. Think about it man:confused:
 
Forget the exact bf measurement he originally provided -- he already corrected himself and said that he didn't actually measure, that he was guessing based on his visual appearance and his known bodyfat at a different point in time. He was perhaps hasty in the original post, but he's corrected himself and I don't think he was intentionally trying to mislead anyone.

I think what he's trying to say is that ALA made a significant difference in his appearance without him changing his lifestyle.
 
And this was helpful for me in the respect that I'm cosidering BAC powder and haven't heard a lot of (results) feedback from it.
 
Guys, his results do sound a little hard to believe and i do not trust body fat calipers anyway.

But I started ALA about 5 weeks ago and I have definately noticed a difference.

I have been dieting for about 12 weeks and hit a plateau, but when I added in ALA, I started loosing fat again.

I will take ALA all the time.

I bought the exact same brand and i think ive been using it for maybe 2 weeks now...i used it pretty much every day, except there were days i didn't use any. The way id use it is id put a gram in water and drink it right before i drank a shake, then id have some carbs. Then I'd take it again in my post workout meal. Results? I have no idea man. I'm too fat to see any visual difference. Plus with easter and evrything, and knowing my dnp is coming soon, ive been slacking a bit. AND i stopped doing cardio when i got it haha. Maybe if the conditions were better and i actually got a fat test taken every week i can judge. Then again, someone would definately have something to say about too, considering thered be people nay saying the electrical impedence, and then if i got it done with calipers, people would nay say that. Like im gonna go to a university somewhere and pay hundreds of bucks for a dunk tank test. Got way too many fucking pessimists and skeptics on this board, i understand the net is a land of bullshit, and maybe this site being "elite" makes people lie to want to fit in and look "elite", but when you do that, you ruin everything, and I think the majority of the people here really do tell the truth, except every now and then youll get someone lying to look cool.

Hey Burning_Inside.. I'm not flamin or anything, just wanted to let you know that you can actually go to a University and get hydrostatically weighed for free in MOST places. I don't really know about big ten schools or anything like that, but in most cases there isn't a charge. Just a lil info for ya bro.

hey since you were mixing fairly high doses with your shakes, did the ALA burn your mouth? I tried mixing the powder in jiuce or a shake and it made my mouth burn like soemthing bad. I was taking the same dose as you, but it really made my blood sugar low an hour or two after taking it. I figure it must work similiarly to metformin or that it mimics insulin.
 
I'm not good with numbers but in the past week I've gained 2 pounds and I look more defined especially in abs and lower pecs (I had a bit of fat there that I was worried was some gyno but it seems to be going away slowly so I'm relieved). I've been taking a gram for I think about 2 weeks. At beginning I could only see top part of six pack, now I can see mid six-pack, my eating has been a bit better but not huge change, I do feel like I have more energy though, as I've had a rough schedule lately and have been getting like 6 hours of sleep per night and I usually need 8-9 at least, and I haven't really been all that tired. Maybe it's the ALA maybe not, I have no idea as its only been about 2 weeks but just thought I'd share. Also I ate probably a good 1500+ calories on Easter in candy alone (I got a sweet tooth :D) and I was taking ALA that day, of course, and didn't notice any fat gain, if anything I still think I'm more defined. But who knows
 
I started taking 500mg ALA with each meal three days ago, along with about 1 gram of creatine a meal. I'm already up three pounds and have lost fat. I don't measure my fat % but I have seen a signifigant decrease for only two days. I have never had just creatine work this good by itself before. ALA works!
 
I am pumped for my ala to start working in me, I am on day 2 @1g ED. 200mg with each meal and 500 mg ginger.

I am in the first week of my cycle!
