they are doing both is the problem, I prefer not to take out my credit card again at the check in desk. It really slowed things down.

I fly enough that I'm a platinum elite member on 2 major airlines, so the fees don't apply to me thankfully.

Last year I flew 225,000 miles. (NOT BY CHOICE)

It helps to get free upgrades on domestic segments though. The government sure isn't paying for me to fly first class!

They should have given more notice so people would be more prepared (if just mentally).

bro, it doesn't matter - you will pay at the desk, that is what happened to me this week (I was ticketed in Marchl).

I think people will adjust, however this is the first week - I was happy I made my connector, but I bet some people had challenges.

They were talking about charging for 1 bag checked..

one reason is they charge postal services and others $$$ to go from point a to b, so why not the passenger??
