Advice needed please

I'm 49 and started HRT a few months ago. I had all the typical common symptoms so I won't bore you with them. Decided to go with Cyp injections. However, I never expected the side effects such as head pressure and intense mood swings even at fairly low dosages. I'm getting kinda bummed out because I thought TRT was going to be my cure but it has brought along just as many side effects as benefits. Anyway, has anyone ever gone from injections to cream and got a smoother ride on this stuff? Someone told me that creams like AndroGel are bio-identical and injections are not because they are synthetic. Any advice would be appreciated.

Hi carlover

Do you have any blood results at hand, from before HRT and/or now. I'm thinking: Free T, Total T, LH, FSH, E2, and prolactin? Can you post them up?

I've not personally tried or changed over to gels but I know several guys who have done. Most of them are glad to have made the change from injections to gels.
It should be a very viable option and you should discuss it with your prescribing doctor.

Some men don't react too well to injections and maybe your dose ought to have been titrated upwards. 150mg a week sounds quite a high starting dose for HRT of any type. Most injections are started at about 95mg-115mg per week or nearly 50% of what yours is. Head pressure certainly sounds like an increase in blood presure...something common in HRT due to the side-effects of testosterone on RBCs and plasma.

Gels are much milder in comparison to injections and are easier on the mind and body. The problem with gels though is the expense, but a good doctor shouldn't let that influence their decisions.

Labtec70, I have 2 separate lab results. Initial ones and then about six weeks in. Let me sum up how testosterone feels and see if you've heard this before. Within a few hrs of injecting I get a moderate headache that last 1-3 days. As the days pass, I begin to feel better and by the end of the week it feels like most of the testosterone is gone. This is when I feel my best because the gorilla has finally loosened its grip from around my throat. Then it's time to inject again and start this whole process over. I'm thinking of trying Andro-Gel just to see if it makes any difference. So far, testosterone has not been the miracle cure I was lead to believe it was. I feel like I traded foggy brain (Low T) for testosterone induced headache brain.

Hi carlover

Have you discussed these sides with your doctor?

I don't know what to make of it tbh. It sounds partially like your blood pressure is rapidly rising after injection and it also sounds like some product may be directly entering a blood vessel or capillary etc. Have you ever heard of Tren cough? That's a similar side effect of Trenbalone, and also ocurs in some blokes who use Nebido (Testosterone Undecanoate).

Whatever it is doesn't sound good and I think a change of administration is a must in your case. Gels are much milder in effect than injections and many of the sides of gels just don't apply. I'm sure a sympathetic doctor will agree with a request for gels.

Hope things work out.

Craig
