Heres some of my advice. I'm no professional but I can say its helped clear my flatulance problem completely...
1. Spend more time chewing your food. Chew about 30-40 times or until the food is liquified.
2. A meal usually takes 20 minutes or more to eat, not 5!
3. Drink your shakes more slowely. Sip on them and give the body time.
4. Drink water/beverages/shakes 1/2hr before meals and 1hr after.
5. Cook food untill well done. Semi-cooked pasta, oatmeal, rice, etc.. that are not digested get dumped into the intestines and ferment. This may slightly increase the G.I. rating but its far better because the food actually absorbs! And thats the whole purpose isn't it!?!
6. Eat foods with more fibre to help digestion. Like brown rice, brussel sprouts, sweet potatoes, spinach. Sounds like it does'nt work but it does. It'll keep you regular and thats half the battle.
7. Don't eat fruit with meals. It promotes premature digestion and/or fermentation. Eat inbettween.
8. Don't chew gum. The flavour will get the digestive juices going and put unnessary strain on your body.
9. If you really have a problem then you can try boiling/steaming all vegetables. I know this decreases nutritional value but it will help your body to more readily absorb whats there.
