Advantages from Shirts and Suits?

I know they increase your lifts by "x" amount, but thats because they do so much of the work for you right? The other big advantage it may give is a psycological advantage. A lot of people get psyched out by seeing 45s on a bar. I did the first time I cleaned 225 and squatted 315. But when I used smaller weights it seemed less difficult. I figure it's like, "if the lift so much more with a shirt, this won't seem like much without it." I was just wondering what all benefits these pieces of equipment would give, and if it would be a good investment someday. Thanks.

No they don't give you "X" amount of extra weight because it isn't a linear trend. All the equipment does is stabilize and give support/push through ranges of the motion. One person may get 50lbs of extra weight with equipment and another may not get any extra. It all depends on how you train, where your weak points are, and how you fit the gear.

If you aren't planning on competing in lifting there really isn't any need to buy any shirts or suits.
