Adjustments to 5x5 ??

Muscle Mafia

Plat Hero

I've been studying up on the 5x5 training method and want to give it a try. My question is, what changes should I make while on sauce?? When I'm juicing I find I need a lot of volume in my training to feel pumped. I'm in my second week of injections, and they will kick in very soon.

Is it perhaps unwise to try something new midstream?? Is it best that I wait until my cycle's over then go 5x5?

Any help/advice would be great!!

yep i would definitely wait until youre through with your cycle as well as your PCT..stick with your reg training program for now..reason being to get the full benis' of 5x5 plus gear its better off if your near plateaus/max weights..starting 5x5 now with relatively easy weights will throw your cycle off..once your on 5x5 for a few months then hit another cycle and you will be pleased with the results and trust me you wont need to add more volume ;)

Mine is as follows:

5x5 alternate flat and incline bench (one session is flat, next is incline)
2x10 db press
2x10 incline fly

I recall that Needsize uses
5x5 flat
2x10 incline press
2x10 incline flys

Thanks bro!! I appreciate the advice. Any suggestion for an awesome chest routine?
as long as your hitting inclines or flat barbell benches heavy you should be ok..if you want to incorporate some ideas from 5x5 you could certainly add that in right now..for example make your last 1 or 2 work sets of benches a 5 rep max and try to bump those weights up each week..

I think I will do just that. Thanks again.

I always found that 5x5 worked well on cycles, but I would back off on the weights, take some time to build back up, and just when things started to get heavy, start the cycle and be able to keep adding weight and proressing all the way through the cycle

If you are alredy 2 weeks in cycle, deffinatly stick with what has been working for you! You want to be able to gauge the gains you get while on the gear. If you change up your routine, you wont truly know what your gains were directly from, i.e. being the change of routine or the gear! I would stick with your proven routine while doint this cycle, then hit 5x5 and by the time you are feeling good with the routine, you should be able to hit another cycle right when you you would be hitting it heavy again in 5x5

Peace

How many times a week do you train each muscle group with the 5x5 method? Presently I'm only training each part once a week. training 5 days a week.

presently;
monday - chest
tuesday - back
wednesday - arms
thursday - legs
friday - shoulders
sat and sun - rest

I personally only use the 5x5 on chest, back, quads, hams, and shoulders some times! I dont use them on arms or calves at all...

and I only use the 5x5 once a week per muscle

Peace
