Adding muscle/Vegetarian diet

jnuts

New member
Hello,
Any ideas on how to get enough protein in along w/veggies etc. to build muscle. I don't eat poultry, meat or eggs. Would nuts and fish combined w/ green's be enough? does anyone else eat this way and what do you need to build/maintain your muscle?

Thanx, Mrs. JNuts

Protein powder, cottage cheese, fish, tofu etc... are fine. In all other respects, you eat just like anyone else trying to build muscle. Get plenty of protein and enough total calories (preferably from low GI starches and veggies), and enough essential fatty acids. Rest, weight training and time are the only other ingredients you need.

Thanx MS, as fa r as EFA's go what are the best nut's to eat, I read p-nuts are on the bottom of the list.

"grass isn't................"!!!!

You should see the shit they spray on grass AND veggies AND fruits. Blech. If the hormones are your only gripe with eating meat, then just get BioGro or other organically grown and free range meat AND veggies.

I guess that means dairy products are out too?

BTW, make sure you get enough omega-3 fats in your diet too. Many nuts and vego foods are deficient in these fats, so you may want to add a smidgen of flaxseed oil into your diet.

Yep, I know, I try to buy organic, but it gets expensive, I didn't know about BioGro, wonder if its in Alabama....

I'd just like to mention here that you'll probably build muscle faster and more easily if you add in some complex carbs like yams and oatmeal. Veggies + protein only could end up being slower and harder.

Thanks alot VeggieLifterChick!! MS, You helped out alot with suggestons, you all are very knowledgable!
