think about that one for a second. why would you try to train your sprint after you got done working out?

work on sprinting before or after the 5 x 5 workout..

did you have something to add?

He's saying that it wouldn't make sense to train sprints after training with weights. Seperate your days or at least times. Train sprints in the AM, lifting in the PM. Or Monday, Wed, Thurs, Saturday lifting - Tuesday and Fridays sprint.

i was just looking for a good answer and maybe some reasonning behind it?

or maybe a good place to read up on it? and maybe how many 40s to run something?

What always worked for me was to do sprints/condirioning in the AM and weightroom work in the PM. It can be tough to sprint after squatting, and the time in beteen to refuel before lifting should leave you plenty recovered. I can't sprint on off-days because it leaves my hamstrings too blown to get an effective workout the next day.

Make sure to learn and practice the olympic lifts, they keep you explosive, quick, and flexible as you pile on bodyweight, it's the key to cat-like quickness and heavy bodyweights in my opinion.

I'd also recommend plyometrics, and the occasional pick up game of basketball, or tennis or raquetball or something like that. Things that require athleticism, foot-speed, and grace and coordination help you stay quick and athletic when packing on muscle too. Maybe sprint twice a week and play pickup b-Ball or tennis one day.

extra-strong, also it is good to divide your training into phases. When really hammering my sprints and speed, I'd backoff on squats and just try to maintain them, and I'd eliminate deadlifting, and I'd really push the olympic lifts hard.

thought that you would be able to figure this one out. it makes absolutely no sense to train with weights, and then turn around and try to work on your sprint. that would be the equivalent of trying to max out on bench press, but first doing all you assistance work for your tri's and lats first. you're not going to be able to get any faster at sprinting if you attempt to do them while fatigued from lifting.
it doesn't matter if you have a separate day for them, just do your sprints before you lift. shit, use the sprints as your warm up for lifting.
key to remember, is that your sprinting strength is going to come from your hams and lower back. not so much in your quads.

I would replace one of the workouts with sprints - treat them as equal if not as intense as squats, especially if your more advanced and pretty quick
