acutane....

hey guys, i know this should be on the grooming board but that board gets like 3 posts a day at the most so i figured i put it here..

right now i am 17 (a senior in high school), and i have pimples...its not that bad but its really really stubborn. i probably have about 5-10 at a time...i have used every topical cream, and also docycyline, a oral thing, and they have not worked. i am sick of having pimples and i want to use acutane..i am going to see my dermo on monday and im going to ask him...when do you guys think im going to be able to start it?? also has anyone had any stories from it?? my friends said their faces cleared up in under a month on the stuff?? anyone??

Most likely the derm will put you on Retin A first .. Accutane is harsh on the liver.

Well Accutane does work .. almost too good. My skin dryed up in about a month, but I got some chapped lips as well.

I'm the biggest fan of this stuff in the world...and eveyone laughes at me for it...

Besides, I like Judith Light and I'd follow her anywhere.....

No, I don't work for Proactiv but it does work if you use it twice a day and don't blow it off.

Shit's not cheap though...Luckily Judith is awesome.

I used to have fairly bad acne and my doc only put me on Accutane after we had tried practically everything else under the sun....

I would get these nasty, painful cyst-like breakouts (I know it's gross!!) but my condition was considered "severe" enough to warrant Accutane....at least according to my doctor....

...but eventually I more or less insisted - so we went for it....I weighed the risks and what not and decided I was sick and tired of my breakouts - and DAMN they were painful....

Not only that - but this was when I was 23 - so it's not like it was just puberty running its course or anything - and no, it wasn't from the gear either....

Anyway - I don't have any bad things to report about my experience on Accutane - very dry skin is all....but that was nothing compared to breaking out all the time....that shit even helps get rid of blackheads (which come back eventually) - and I stilll get the occasional zit - but no more big-ass cysts or anything...and nothing like it ever used to be....

I guess I've been rambling - hope this helps anyway....
