acne remedies

And another thing ...... a very common misnomer.

Tanning does NOT help acne. It makes it worse.

(now bare with me .......)

It will help to sort of "cover up" some acne, because the skin is darker, and the inflammation around acne lesions or cysts or breakouts tend to make teh skin more red .... and if the skin is darker .... you will "see" them less.

BUT, tanning will promote more acne.

I like what you said in your previous post, but I think your comments about tanning are misleading.

Tanning DOES helps acne because it helps dry up your skin. This is the reason you want to tan. Not because your skin becomes darker. In your arugment that tanning promotes acne, you fail to mention why it promotes more acne. You only mention that it conseals acne. Of course once you have drier skin, you body will try to over compensate for dryness and produce more oil. That's why you apply some Cetaphil (water based moisturizer) and woala!!!

Ask any dermatologist and they will tell you to tan up.

Ask DrTodd and DrJMR which are doctors and members of elite.

What I've found that really helps my acne is washing with neutrogena anti-bacteria soap. After 10 minutes of washing my face is completely dried out. Then apply Cetaphil Moisturizer and ance be gone!

I had the same problem, i swear by the product Cleocin T. Your doc will prescribe it just ask him. Its a little on the expensive side.

The drying effects of Tanning can be mnuch more effectively done using other means (washing, mild scrubbing).

Granted, yes, maybe overall, the fact that tanning does help to ry the skin, and tends to cover things up, may make it an option for some. But from a pure standpoint of what it does to your skin, it DOES promote acne. You may actually SEE that acne a bit less, but the damage that sun creates, and the reaction by many people's skin (creating more oil after the initial dryness subsides) does actually, technically, increase the number of lesions.

And nothing against any Docs in particular, but many Dermatologists and Docs are fuill of crap when it comes to acne remedies. Many still want to just prescribe tetracycline (which hardly does a damned thing for many)!

Just ask many docs what they think will happen if you took steriods! LOL

So, just because "a doc said it" does not make it true.

Nothing personal against any of the docs in here.

Golfer, I will check into that. On another note I use to live in Zachary, north of Baton Rouge, hows everything down in the dirty south.:)

Orca...

Cleocin T is by prescription only...drop me an email. I don't like BB's on cycles taking any more orals...cleocin T has always worked for me.

Tanning

Actually you're both right.

Acne (or any other) bacteria are killed by exposure to ultra-violet light. So in the short term, tanning DOES help acne.

BUT, in the long term, tanning damages your skin, and damaged skin (often referred to as the third kidney) will become more acne prone than untanned healthy skin.

To cure your acne once and for all it boils down to 2 fundamental principles…

Purify the blood and lymph fluid…

Bring hormones back into balance…

Unfortunately, both of these goals are rather elusive while taking steroids, but instructions for how to do it are available here:

i know this probably isn't feesible for a lot of you, but nothing cures my little breakouts like time in the ocean. i surf 3-4 times a week in between lifting, and i don't know if it's the salt or what, but it seems to dry the oil and crap right out of my skin.

as an aside, i really believe the surfing keeps my shoulder/rotator cuffs happy as well.

later!
