i agree with your reasoning mountain, as i understand the premise of your argument is based on the killing of Pearl, and why the hell are these terrorists being allowed top-notch lawyers, however, torturing them is really bad, and the news anchor group that daniel was involved in is just as much responsible as the mastermind who planned to kill him. Why send a news reporter, to a country, where minimum amounts of our troops are located, i mean what purpose was he in pakistan for? It's like a white man driving into compton with gang colors on and blasting rap music, did you think when they saw him they were gonna treat him with humanity? So yea, i think his employer should definetley recieve some of the heat too.

There are a million possibilties in which we couldv'e ended up in a similar situation, but we try our best to stay out of them.

and btw marines > army

I was a journalism major in college. I understand Pearl was going after a story about a certain person and I understand why he did it.

I haven't seen any evidence of torture. But that is a different matter altogether.

I am just not agreeing with taking the "high ground and being the good guys."

Foreign fighters, or any non-US citizen doesn't enjoy our rights and never should. They don't afford us those rights, they should not receive them either.

Also, We love the bullet stoppers, er, Marines.

Slippery slope, eh? Again, I'll admit it's not easy, but I would of thought that you want to separate yourself from the kind of people who would do that sort of thing...otherwise...why not try to start a revolt in their country and overthrow the local government? Wait a sec...

Every member of the ACLU should burn.

If in 2003 ACLU said we're going after Bush. Everyone would decry them.

If in 2008 ACLU saud we're going after Bush. Everyone would applaud.

This is why the opinions of the general public should always be ignored.

The ACLU can go overboard - and many of their cases are purely for publicity - but they do serve a purpose. Keeping an eye on the government, and that is a major need in a country where the masses are so easily controlled.
