ACL tear!!!

Just about where I wanted to be........ and I blow out my ACL!!!
No way can I just stop lifting, but then I'll have this huge upper body and chicken legs, what to do?? and how about cardio???
 
what were you doing when you tore it and are you having it fixed? I tore mine and I was in so much pain that you couldn't pay me to do legs. I won't lie my left leg had no muscle compared to my right leg by the time physical therapy came around. You need to find a doctor that understands your lifestyle and goals otherwise they will tell you a line of BS that shows they have no respect for bodybuilding lifestyle. Good luck ;)
 
train the opposite leg still. do single leg extnesions and leg curls. It has been demonstrated that working the healthy side decreases the amount of atrophy on the affected side. THis happens b/c the nerves synapse from both sides in the spinal cord at the same level, so there will be some stimulation of the affected side still
 
Fuck ACL's. I tore my left one and had 5 surgeries to repair it, ended up taking it out. Then I tore my right one, repaired it and just last week retore it!
 
To tell you the truth, the knee without the ACL feels SO MUCH BETTER than the one that I just the ACL repaired. I deliver mail for a living so I walk all day and have very little problems when it comes to pain as compared to the reconstructed knee.
