Accutane???????????

hmm.. that doesn't sound right. im on 120mgs/day for 5 months and I know guys that are on it that weigh less then me and are taking 80mgs/day. Your doc is full of shit. All the side effects can be controlled and your doctor should monitor you closely during the whole period of treatment. Sounds like he doesn't know what he's talking about.

by the way.. how did u just get 30 pills? My accutane comes in a box w/ 10 booklets that holds 10 pills apiece = 100 pills. I thought that was standard.

If he's just giving you 30 pills don't even bother.... Today was 103 pills for me and I am still broke out like hell. More dry and clearing up some but still the acne is there. 30 pills won't do jack.

I just started yesterday. My doctor put me on 40mg a day for 6 months. His theory that it would do the same as 80mg a day for 4 months like most people get.

i have been on accutane almost 16 weeks with 4 to go...80mg/day.....at 10 weeks i was completely cleared up and i had no ifs ands or buts from my dermotologists..tell your doc to get screwed

aight, thats cool.. i just assumed they all came in boxes of 100. that dosage is still screwed up though. 1 pill every other day? is your acne very mild? I might could see it if your acne if very mild.. in that case i wouldn't think your doc would even prescribe it.

I'm currently taking 80 mg a day. My doctor told me I would need to stay on this cycle for 5 months.

The drug has done wonders, but I still need 3 more months to go. My back has cleared up alot since I started taking the drug.

My personal suggestion would be to go and get a second opinion from another doctor... I know that for every quack there are three real doctors who know or have a rough idea of what to with such a problem.... all it takes is a marginal reading in the doctors drug book... a text that is given to physicians to help them understand various drugs and their side-effects. Seems like your doc. isn't all that well read on the subject..... punt his ass and get a physician and not a quack!!

I have mild acne that has supressed over time. I can go days without breaking out, and then again, I can break out for days at a time. It is nothing but a pain in the ass and embarrassing as well. Accutane is probably not for me, but does anyone know of any other good treatments that might clear me up for good?

Sounds like the doc is clueless or an asshole.

My Doc did not want to do it for me as well. Here's what I did.

I told him " I am sick of all of these other regiomens, which really hardly work. I am sick of taking tetracycline for years and years, ad it seems to not work. I am sick of being a slave to creams, scrubs, gels, and having enough skin-care crap to furnish some supermodel chick. I have had enough.

I KNOW that accutane is for serever cases, buit I am determined. I want this acne problem to END. Now.

Now, I AM going to do this. I have made up my mind.

I would MUCH rather do it with YOU, my regualr doc, overseeing the process, and, legitimately, have my insurance pay for it.

However, as much as I want it that way, I will not let it stop me if I cant.

I will pay for it out of pocket if I have to.

I will find some doc, someonwhere, who will write the script.

I WILL MAKE THIS HAPPEN, one way or another.

I did, and my doc sighed ........ and the said "ok, lets get the blood tests started to check your baseline cholesterol.

I have thought of doing that. I guess it is even embarassing for me to talk about it. Who the hell wants to talk about their own acne? Anyways, while on the Accutane, I have heard of additional flare-ups before any signs of clearing. How long will it get worse for and how long does it take for the acne to be entirely cleared up?

If any of you could not get it from your doc... would u get it from the east or wat... my parents dont want me to take it cause they are affraid i might kill my self...but i just never want acne again and ive seen it work wanders for my friends... so if u had no other choice would you get it from the east ... smurf

i've heard this from another board, they thinks the suicial thing is bullshit...the reason why they kill themselves is bcuz their docotr didn't tell them that this shit put you into the hell breakout period, that's when u get more acne then ur total lifetime acne added up, before they start clearing up and give u shiny baby ass shiny skin at the end....
some kids are frustrated and desperate to go on accutane cuz nothing else works for them and they perceived that this is the VERY LAST thing that can help them on this planet, but then, they break out even worse when they're few wks into this shit....oh, that's the end of the world...even the miracle play this tricks on me....i think my face will be like that forever....
then they kill themselves before they give the drug the time it takes to do them the goodie...yahoo..

anyway...this shit is harsh and u gotta be careful, ur doc is full of shit if he's giving u 20mg every other day...u need at least .5mg/kg body weight/day...that's the minimal dosage....anything lower than that would give u a good jack
im pretty small 63kg, was on 40 mg every other day for 2 wks then up to 40mg everyday for 6 wks then 60mg per day from then till da end of the course and im now clearing up in week9, this is a miracle drug and u have to believe this...and u will most proabably experience the breakout stage too just like most of us, but dont worry cuz u'll clear up sooner or later, give it a few more weeks and u'll see things changing in the speed like nothing else..

get a real derm that knows his shit and get him to prescribe u accutane, if u have severe ones like i did he'll prolly give u at least .5/kg to start then up u to 1mg/kg in a few weeks and let u have that for 4-5 months~
im going thru this so u can trust me man, i've even passed thru the dry lips stage now i only need to use the blistex thing maybe once a day and actually i dont feel like i need to ...(this is rare tho...u 'll prolly get hella dried like other guys from these boards..u know everybody react differently on drugs...i guess im just one of da lucky ass out there)
