Accutane, how soon before you see results?

cranny

New member
Just started a course last week. I didn't think to ask my derm. how long before this shit starts to clear. Anyone?

My shoulder acne sucks.. thinking of getting some.

Not sure how long accutane takes to work though.

Anyone else have any good remedies for the shoulder acne?

I was using minocyclene - which is a weak version that does not make you so sensitive to the sun - It took about 2+ weeks then it started to clear up fast - then after 3-4 weeks it was completely clear.

@ 40mg ED mine began wring immediately, during the first week my acne began drying out and after that just began disappearing. UNBELIEVABLE compound!

Took me about 2 weeks. First you'll notice your face will stop producing oil dead in its tracks. Then you'll see everything start to dry up.

same here...within the first week or 2 i saw dramatic changes. i actually ended use in week 5 i think and the acne never came back. BTW...i was only taking 20mg/day

Accutane is the best. I thought I had permanent acne and it completely cleared up my back within a couple of months.

I was on it for about 4 months. It worked! I did noticed it thinned my hair but worked none the less. Started off with 40mg/Day for the first 2 months then up to 60mg/Day for the final 2. The first month you'll notice the dry skin, lips and the acne might get worse. Make sure you have Cetaphil creme for your skin and Carmex lip balm for the dry lips. The second month is when you'll start to notice an improvment and by the 3-4th your skin should be clean. Stay off all orals, keep drinking to a minimum and stay away from the Sun as you burn VERY easy.

It'll probably clear up some the first 2 weeks, then people usually have a break-out around week 3. Once that break-out dies off, it's clean sailing from there.

I was on it for about a year on my own without doctor supervision @ 80mg a day all the way through and noticed around month 4 it started clearing up with side effects bein dry skin and lips also eyes were watering a lot but i got some visine for that and was fine, but after my cycle was over with i havent had a acne problem since and that was about 6 years ago when i did it

If it's the acne is pretty severe, which it sounds like in your case it was if your doc had you on 80mg, then it could take months to clear up, like in your case.

Fuk Accutane, that shit is bad news. Iv had an acne problem for years but never gonna touch that stuff. Shower 1-2 times a day, fully exfoliate the problem areas while using pro active, will clear up to nuttin in 2 weeks.

The reason i dont like accutane is i new a dude that was ya normal happy everyday fella, doc put him on accutane then afterwards he got depressed and killed himself.

Megga sides, including major mental health problems.

Obviously wouldnt happen to everyone but i am just paronoid that il be the one that loses my mind.

You're right, there are a lot of very negative side effects associated with accutane. It is definitely a last resort.

I knew a guy that liked to play poker... he got depressed and killed himself too... maybe we should stay away from playing poker. ;)

I knew an old lady who swallowed a fly. Now I never eat fly's lol!

Good info on this thread I just started with accutane. I had not had acne in like ten years and two or so months into my cycle it was like I was 18 again. Tanning helps immediately but not totally or permanently for me. And I have been using the dial antibacterial soap someone once mentioned on this foum and it seems to work better than regular soap. I shower at least twice a day and exfoliate like crazy but never really cleared it enough for me.

Accutane will not make you kill yourself, your friend had something major going on in his life that eventually made him kill himself, dont confuse it

I was up to 100mg a day but I was taking bi-weekly blood panels. The only side effect I had was extremely chapped lips. You need to put aquafore on atleast 5x a day.

word, tane MAY intensify suicidal feelings if you have them before starting a course but the shits not gonna make a normal dude jump off a bridge out of the blue or for no reason.

cranny how many mg's did your derm start you off with? i picked my script up today and my doc has me starting off at 20mg for the first month to see how i respond.

It was about 10 days for me but I was only taking half of a ml from ag-guys. Dried me up nicely but not too much. A little dry skin on and around my nose. But I haven't had any big pimples in 2 weeks. I give it a thumbs up. I've had 3 pimples in the last week. 2 little ones on my back and one little fucker on my lip.

accutane for me did clear up my acne about 6 years ago,,,made my MPB progress rapidly...if i could do it all over i would not have took accutane..

Doc put me on 40mg/day for the first month. I'm in wk. 2. He said at my weight he wants to take me up to 80mg if all goes well. I've never heard of accutane contributing to losing your hair :worried: I hope those are isolated cases w/ you bros. I would have to agree w/ you bros about the suicide issue. I can't see how it would make you kill yourself. Seems to me there would already be some underlying issues before they ever started. Kind of like roid rage. That's a bunch of bullshit unless you're already an asshole before you ever started taking gear IMO. To me, it only intensifies your original personality.

I have gone through 2 full cycles of accutane (starting at 40 a day and moving onto 80 later in the cycle) and the only neg side effects I had was dry lips and skin. I've heard the horror stories of people getting depressed or killing themselves on it. IMO, you can't accurately and realistically judge ANYTHING by the extremes. How many people here actually KNOW someone who has gone off the deep end cause of accutane? My other thought is that it's not the medicine, it's the person. I guarantee anyone who shows such extreme reactions to that drug (emotionally and psychologically) had a few issues before ever even taking the drug.

Anyway, I loved it. The first cycle helped a bit, but was not the savior I expected. Then did a second cycle and it worked perfectly. Have had maybe a handful of pimples since the last cycle. :)

My experience is the same as KB's. The second cycle killed acne for good. No matter what AS I use. Before using it for the same two cycles he did I had very bad, bleed all over the sheets at night, acne on my back.

Dam thats fuggin gross

I had one cycle of 80mg for what ended up being 6 months (which i beleive is a bout 2 months longer than the max is supposed to be?). usual dry skin and chapped lips which could both be controlled with moisturiser and lip balm. the one big pain in the ass was that i would have a nose bleed EVERY single day, nothing huge but it got a little embaressing when in meetings!!!

I've used accutane for about 7 months now. vary the does from 10mg per day up to 80 and back down. My acne went away in 2 weeks if that along with moisture in my face and lipsesp around my mouth under the chin. I've adjusted to about a steady 10mg per day now that its clear and I'm running 1500mg test/w 100mg tren A /d 100mg winny powder per day. plenty of vitamins liver detox and also use melanotan ii for libido and it counteracts the light sensitivity affect. I'm a white irish boy and i get dark as hell with little exposure.

btw this is my first post, I have been reading, researching and reading this site an others for over a year. Like a full time job.

Ya there was 2 different kinds of ip accutane. One was 40mg capsules, and one was 40mg tabs. When she ran out of the capsules, she went to the tabs and broke out all over again. I got her some ag-guys and she is clearing up again, but it took longer than the first time. Either those accutane tabs are crap, or she wasn't chewing them like I told her to. Either way, no probs at all with ag-guys.

gotcha krishna.

also to those that finished a course, i read and my derm told me that sometimes theres an initial breakout when you first start a course.

my question is did any of you get it and also if you breakout more or whatever does it come up in places that you previously didnt have acne? (ex. you have back and chest acne when start a course then have an initial breakout and start getting them on your face?)

Side effects are largely overstated in my opinion

I was on 40mg/day the first month then 80mg/day the next 5 months. Shit annihilated my acne. I also noticed I could shave without razor burn - it was wierd.

The only thing that sucks the constant dry lips

I've done it 3 times in the past and I had the initial break-out all 3 times. It usually came on about week 3. The same thing happened to my girl recently.
