Plus it depends alot on the amount of fat in your butt cheek ... my ass is like a rock so as soon as the skin is broken i'm into muscle . Conversly if you have a half inch or inch of blubber to get through it's a different story .

I use 1" all the time .. you should be ok

I prefer the 1.5" 23g..but yeah, unless you're a gigantic heffer, 1" should be fine.
