Hey, If I get on gear and start hittin my abs harder will they pop out, get me a 6 pack or what?? there almost there, just need a bit more training.. will this speed the process up just like the other muscles??

You can train your abs with weight to increase the size of your abs, but like Mustang said, you must have a low body fat % for them to be visible. You can have big thick abs, have 15% bf, and they will not look great, but if you drop the body fat to say 7-8% they will look much better. They are just like any other muscle, but need a low body fat for them to look good.

Then if you want to get your abs bigger and thicker, train them with weights, if you want that more cut smaller ab look, do not use weights. I have been using weights for the past couple weeks and it appears that my lower abs are getting larger. I have put on weight, but if I dropped 5-7 pounds they would look pretty good and I am sure more larger. Try doing leg raises with 10 pound dumbells. I put them in between my feet. I also do heavy cable crunches, and decline situps with a 25 pound weight on my chest.

Don't get confused with "upper" and "lower" abs.. It's one muscle- rectus abdominus. Just like your biceps.. It they either contract, or they don't.

I disagree with leg raises. The primary movers are hip flexors and your abs only stablize.

I also disagree with "lower weight + reps = more cut abs"

You can't change the shape of your muscles.. You can just make them bigger or smaller. There are exercises and techniques that will make your muscles larger.. But doing high reps will not make them more "cut."

Think about power lifters.. Not too many cuts, huh? Thats not b/c of the exercises they do-- it's because of their body fat. If you striped the fat off of them they would indeed look "cut."
