abcess protocol

ok, got a lump on my left tri. its red and kinda spidering out, and i just tried to pin it and see what i could suck out.. got some puss in the needle and that was it (23g)

whats proper protocol here?
should i not be worried about a little puss?
should i be worried and hit the er to get sliced?
and if i do end up at the er or something, any issues with telling them im on?

i appriciate any input guys, thanks

well, i'd bet most here would say try to put a hot compress on it and if it doesn't go down, get yer hiney to the er. I would probably tell them that I bought some IM b-12 off of the internet and i tried injecting myself..*cough* *cough*

but definitely, if it doesn't go down and seems to get worse real fast, go get yerself checked out man..it's not worth losing a limb..by what you said, were you injecting in your tri's? and how many cc's

i drew a circle around it so i can see if its getting bigger or not, and slapped a heating pad on it a little while ago

bro, I wouldn't wait. I would get my ass to a dr ASAP....even if it does go down.
If it's spidering out, there's a very good chance it could be infected. I had an abcess
before and it was only a hard lump that started off red and then turned black and blue, but never spidered out like what you got going on there.

alas, if theres puss in there, get on some antibiotics quickly and it should be fine since you caught it quick.

if it was an abcess it would be extremely painful to stick with a needle. EXTREMELY painful. If you pushed a 23g pin in there and it didn't hurt like hell you probably don't have an abcess. Go get it checked out anyway, but i think you'll be fine.

First of all...Why would anyone feel compelled to tell an ER doc that they are shooting AAS? There are so many thing lying around your house that could poke through your skin and cause an infection! Try this one...Hey Doc, me and my girl were doing the wild thing on the floor of her place and when I rolled over, a bent paperclip( you can substitute sewing needle or safety pin, ect) stabbed in my arm...Heck Doc, I just pulled it out and wiped some alchohol on it...I didnt think it would amount to much.

You guys need to be a little more creative!

The red spidering could be a sign of blood poisoning GO TO A DOCTOR ASAP
I had an abcess on my arm(not aas but a insect bite) try this- get a glass bottle heat it up place the opening over the abecess(after lancing it)then hold a cold cloth around the bottle ,this will cause a vacume inside the bottle and draw the puss out(hopefully)
repeat untill no puss is left. It work fine for me hope this helps

i actually went to the ER yesterday to get it looked at. it's cellulitis

got a script for a gram of keflex ed and a tetnus shot. something on my skin made its way up and into the hole while i was sleeping.. maybe i should wash my sheets

most docs are not gonna give two shits what you injected into yourself, and why you did it. you are better off telling them the truth so that they can properly treat you. not to mention its not too hard for them to find out what the cause was.

believe it or not this shit went from the size of my open hand to almost gone. so thanks to everyone who pushed the get it checked thing home
