are you doing weight trainning and cardio in the same day?

i find it harder to do abs before running because my abs seem to cramp up. but if you do it for a while your body will adjust to the stress.

ok synical people i didnt mean actual time i meant in relation to your workout on a cardio day. If its a cardi day for me should i do them before or after running? i mean will it be bad to do it at a certain time like it is other muscles (in relation to running) and no im not training to be a runner.

well they're just abs do them whenever you want to. I usually do them after I run if that's what you want to hear.

Apparently you aren't familiar with theguy351's work. He starts inane threads in which he wants people to spoon-feed everything to him and refuses to think for himself, with the possible exception of deciding to ignore the advice he's given.

I find 3:45 in the afternoon works best for me. I tried 3:30 once but it just wasn't as effective.
do you change that when daylight savings time takes affect?

actually Cynical-symian, i was actually referring to AnotherButters making an assinine comment. And I had one thread that got out of control like that. Now everytime I ask a question you always chime in about my "work" and how I wasnt to be spoon fed. I asked a question, ok. I don't understand why everytim I start a thread you have to take cheap shots at me.

when replying to someone just use the quote button. saves lots of time and if some people are trying to answer your questions and help they will not get misdirected.

? so when do you plan to do your ab work?

oh, ok. I was planning on doing my abs before doing my cardio, but I wasnt sure if the cardio would diminish results like some say it does to actual lifting.

Here's a serious answer: it really doesn't matter. Ab work isn't time/energy-consuming enough for doing cardio beforehand/afterwards to be an issue (as it would be with, say, a 90-minute squat, press, and pull workout).

I do ab work before cardio, while others prefer the opposite. Try both, see which you like best, and don't worry about one being the global "right" answer.

I always do cardio last.
Your body prefers to burn sugur (glycogen) if it's available. You need sugar to fuel your muscle building (abs are a muscle too).
Once you've burned available sugar your body will metabolize stored fat for fuel, which is what you want for your cardio training.
Besides do you really want to train muscles hard after 30 minutes of cardio? I know I don't.
Now if all your going to do is abs and cardio, do it first thing in the morning on an empty stomach (coffee/tea are an exception) and I still would train your abs first.

i disagree with this, as your in a catabolic state when you first wake up all youll do is waste hard earned muscle?
i was under the impression its far more efficient to do high intensity cardio to boost your metabolism and burn fat while at rest, rather then burn fat WHILE working out...

some body with more knowledge then myself have any agreements/disagreements with what i believe?

I do not think i understand you question? what do you mean burn fat while at rest? Rather than burt fat while working out?

I really do not believe it matters if you do cardio on an empty stomach. Its not like if you burn 600 claories you will weigh less that day form it. It is an on going cycle you body adjusts to.

Abs first. I fractured my lower back playing football and found that if I do the ab work before I run it helps stabilize my lower back and relieves some irritation when running. And because your abs contract while running, I always feel like my abs are working harder during my run if i've worked them right before.

If you were to do HIIT (or weight training) on an empty stomach, that concern would be valid. The logic behind fasted LISS cardio is that the intensity is low enough that the body relies on fat, rather than carbohydrates (since you're in a fasted state) or muscle for most of the energy.

Bottom line: LISS can (and probably should) be done fasted, HIIT shouldn't.

just make sure you hit them regularly, although great abs are made in the kitchen... look for " needsize's" 5x5 ab routine
