I was asked today if I would be willing to come in four hours early each day for the rest of the week. They seemed shocked when I said thanks but no thanks. My manager more or less said to me that she thought that since I was new to the department that I would want to make a good first impression. I told her that once I was through with my training that I would be glad to go back on crew and work rotating shifts, but as far as working overtime, I'll pass, unless required to do so. I can't believe that she assumed that I would be willing to jump through hoops for them because I am new.

:smash: :smash:

They assume that all some people want to do is work. Like we don't have a life or something. Really, I don't think they care. BTW, this is Biteme. Goodluck with your new job. :)

been there, done that.

my mistake, however, was coming in voluntarily too many weeks in a row on Friday (M-TH was my work week, 12 hour days). i'd have to tell 4 different bosses 4 separate times why i wasn't coming in on Friday (i don't want to. PERIOD). they still couldn't comprehend it.

damn i'm glad i don't work there any more.

hey...might as well draw the lines right away.....

You're right, but I just hate playing the game. They try to test you to see how much they can get away with, and they keep pushing until you tell them to stop. I have never been good at office/workplace politics, but I have gotten better at expressing myself without losing my cool. :verygood:

What do you mean you don't want to work extra hours?? You don't want to spend your whole life working?? What's wrong with you??

LOL

BTW, I'm being very sarcastic....
