yeah i went to south america for a summer
to be honest, i didn't really notice a catholic presence
sure their was churches and nuns, but the avg peep i met didn't seem too affilated with it.
didn't lutheran's come from germany? lotsa scando and polish peeps up this way and i think they are presybeterian?? i could be wrong

I'm guessing you didn't date anyone while you were down there.
I lived in Chile for 6 months.
The Catholicism really came through in relationships.
That, and my landlord decorated my entire apartment with crucifixes and clowns. That was creepy.

family i stayed with wasn't religious at all

Cool, I was there in 2002.
I lived in Santiago but traveled all over Chile and Peru. I never went to Argentina. Maybe next time.

i should've checked out chile but i didn't
some of my classmates did.
went to uruguay, a corner of brazil, and paraguay...my spanish was decent at the time, not so much anymore

Chilean and Argentinean accents are impossible.
I had a much easier time in Peru.
