What diets did you two use? I tend to gain too much fat when I bulk even though I eat clean. 4k cals a day is just too much. Just wondering what your diets look like.

AAP is like 140 carbs a day 550 grams of protien if I recally correctly.

He eats that many carbs year round -- he claims its his key, and same with the high protien -- and I agree.

4K calories doesn't tell us much w/o your stats, age, etc. I stay around 2,500 for cutting but then I'm 247. Try upping the protein and reducing the carbs.

Right now I am about 12%BF (still dieting), 5'10 and 190lbs. The bulking macros were 54g fat, 492g carbs and 433g carbs. I think I'll give the low carb approach a try next time and see what happens.

Actually, all the swimming that I used to do is what kept my bodyfat low. When I first moved down here, I used to swim 2 miles every day and walk another mile after it.

Now my low carb diet is just for maintaining my BF% level. Though I will tell you that I eat high protein 400 grams + and low to moderate carbs. Slightly more carbs on my non-training days.

Believe it or not there was a very interesting diet article in Flex magazine that I am going to to try. Which for me will have my carbs up around 700 grams daily. Read about my Flex review on the C&C board in about two hours. I haven't posted it yet, but will tonight.

AAP- what month was this article in? july, Aug, Sept?

Sept. With Arnold on the cover. Called Eating For Mass by Chris Aceto.

Chris Aceto has some good ideas. I've been meaning to buy a few of his books.

Dont eat so many calories then. Just add in some high glycemic index carbs with each meal. A baked potato with round or flank steak, 12 grain bread with eggs, sweet pot with salmon, yams, long grain rice with chicken. No secrets there.

How do you people surive on these low calorie diets? I couldn't imagine being on 2500 a day. It would kill me. 4000 calories is a nice, slow cutting diet for me. If I did cardio, I could probably get away with more.

i'm guessing so he keeps his insulin levels down and allows for better fat burning.

yeah I thought that may be the case just most people seem to try and keep insulin levels low when no training? a bit of insulin when trianing helps does it not?

i also eat more carbs on non-training days.
gives teh body more fuel to recover.

This guy is fantastic! Just keeps it about as simple as you can get with truth in every word. Don't believe me? Look at his avatar and read his signature, 'nuff said.

Also correct.

My diet is very simple. I eat a LOT of chicken breasts, steak, ISO Chill whey isolate and a night formula shake from ProteinFactory.com. What carbs I take in is usually mostly in the AM and post workout.
