AAAI/ISMA PT Certification??

Hey guys...I went to my local gym and inquired the owner of the gym (who is a PT) about getting my personal training certification. She recommended the AAAI/ISMA certification. Does anybody have this certification? How respectable is this certification within the PT industry? Would I be better served to go a different route and get a different certification? Any feedback would greatly be appreciated. Thanks guys.

Most certification programs don't really teach the essentials of personal training, they only teach anatomy, physiology, and basic program development. There are others that do but the point really for people who are already training is to get a certification their gym accepts. If your gym accepts AAAI/ISMA then you should get one. Unless you are going to go to another gym, find out what that particular gym accepts. There are more recognizable credentials, like ACE and NASM but receongintion isn't always wants important. Recongnizing a certification name doesn't mean you know anything about it. The more gym owners knew about some of the most recognizable certifications, the less they'd like them, I'm sure of it.
