Last sunday i contracted a staff infection off one of the machines at my gym!! I have alump the size of an egg on the back of my leg. Its hurts like a MO_FO!!! Doc has me on antibiotics right now.He says if that doesnt clear it up hes gonna cut it open & drain it. This sucks cuz im 1/2 way through my cycle & i cant train legs!!! He advises to carry a spray bottle of 1/2 bleach & water to wipe down the equipment!!!! I would advise the same!!! Id hate to see anyone else go through this shit !!!!!!

This is becoming all too familiar in the gym setting.
Thankfully you do not have it bad enough to warrant iv treatment of antibiotics for it. And yes, I personally would wipe down anything that I touch, people are just too rude these days and do not really think nor care about leaving their nasties everywhere.
Best of luck to you on the drainage, it is not as bad as it seems and is actually more effective I wouldn't worry about it.

I had a staff infection along time ago from gym equipment. I got blisters on my face and a lump on my hip that drained. Thank GOD my face did not scar from it but I have a little scar on my hip to remind me to wash my hands thoroughly and wipe down equipment.

I always wash my hands and wear long sleeve/pants when using the equipment. Its a shame because we as a society created staff/merca with our overuse of antibiotics and antibacterial soap, the strain reproduced itself to be powerful and immune to these things and now a ton of people are "asymptomatic" or carriers of the infection even though they may never show signs of infection

that sucks bro. they put up signs at my gym about that shit. i think they do have a bleach solution in the spray bottles here now.

I would hold the gym responsible for not properly keeping their equipment clean. even though gym members should be courteous and wipe their things, it is th responsibilty of the employees of the gym to ensure that equipment remains sanitary. It is their fault.
