A True Hardcore Maniac

b fold the truth

Elite Strongman

Being a true hardcore maniac is something felt deep inside. When a big workout day comes along, it should take over your entire reason for existence. The only care you must have is to dominate in the gym - Scare the living Hell out of people.

A failed workout translates into personal defeat and makes me feel worthless, but on the other hand, a battle won creates a feeling of victory second to none. Striving to push the envelope of human performance is a beautiful thing. To succeed in life requires risks. If these risks result in defeat, well, at least you went out a warrior.

Facing a 500-pound squat when you can barely walk is very intimidating, but feel the rush as you step into the pit of death and challenge gravity to a duel.

spoken like a true hardcore maniac.............. (takes one to know one)

i think we all have that beast as an alter ego....... it just takes the right combination to bring it out........ the pit...... is usually that combination.

I feel like buying you a power rack myself. B Careful!

Defeat is a state of mind. No one is ever defeated until defeat has been accepted as a reality. To me, defeat in anything is merely temporary, and its punishment is but an urge for me to greater effort to achieve my goal. Defeat simply tells me that something is wrong in my doing; it is a path leading to success and truth. — Bruce Lee

does this mean leaving a streak of spit on the mirror in front of the cage?

There are streaks of snot in front of my power rack. If you ain't slinging snot, you ain't tryin hard enough.

I began dripping blood from my head while box squatting with bigokie a while back. Coolest thing I have ever seen in the gym.

I think I wrote that when I was 18:)

Good God. Maybe I can be that hardcore one day.

I've told this story before but it still makes me laugh, and to me, defines hardcore.
My buddy and I were in the changeroom after finishing our workout. It was single max day(I was powerlifting back then), I had just hit a pb of 540lbs on the deadlift, and my buddy had hit a 795 squat that would have passed in competition. We were comparing marks, my shins were bleeding freely and my palms were ripped to shit. He had burst all the blood vessels in his upper chest. Right in the middle of this 3 teenagers walked in, took one look at the crazy fuckers, and walked right back out.
To me, thats hardcore....

A buddy of mine in St Louis, MO told me of his first day at Eagle Gym. He walked in and saw Willie Wessels doing EASY squats wtih 800+ for reps. Willie was about 235 at the time. In the middle of his set, his blood pressure had risen so much from the set that a scab on his forehead broke open and blood spurted out in front of him...

5 years later they are workout partners...still.

Now that's what I'm talking about!!!

that is what happened to me, except I did not have a scab or anything, it just began leaking out of the skin. I never felt it coming out, it just poured out with the sweat. When I wiped it away, there was absolutely no wound, the blood was just forced out.

PowerlifterJay has reported a similar phenomenon on his back when going over 700 in the squat.

Hardcore. There is no greater compliment for the real strength athlete.

And B-fold, that was a beautiful peice, even more impressive to have been written at such a young age, and even more impressive that you hung onto it all this time.

It is framed and I used to keep it in my gym bag...along with a framed pic of Tom Platz's quad shot...black and white. brian747478' and I use to set that framed pic next to the squat rack when we squatted...for motivation. He also had a book on Tom Platz that we looked at often...on leg day.
