A scheduled cheat day and thyroid ???'s

I don't necessarily "schedule" it all the time, but once a week I try and go off my diet completely and eat whatever. I worry though about how much one day will set me back in the gym. I've heard something along the lines that the thyroid will slow down or stop (I have no idea what it does) if you don't overeat, though.

Does anyone know how often you should maybe "cheat" to keep that from happening. Personally, I don't ever feel like cheating for an entire day, and I would think that as long as I'm not having uncontrollable cravings, I'm doing well. Any thoughts?

When you are in any type of starvation mode or caloric deprivation, a certain amount of time will pass and production of thyroxine will decrease, along with oxidation of fatty acids. This can vary depending on the person and the caloric deficit. I have heard good and bad things about having cheat days. I think you may be able to somewhat "trick" your body, but you can spill over too. You sound fairly disciplined; I would try cycling your carbohydrate intake over the course of a week, I think with your diet plan mapped out you can better manipulate your metabolism. Hope this helped...

It doesn't slow down if you dont' overeat, it slows down if you don't refeed

I wouldn't cheat, I would just set up a meal plan, 6meals where you intake carbs at an appropriate rate (you can use my CKD manual CARBUP ratios). The carbs are what refills the liver glycogen and gets the T4-T3convertion and leptin levels going.

Mr. X are you reccomending that a person on a clean balanced diet who is eating moderate clean low gi carbs everyday should have a complete carb up day even if it isnt a ckd?
