Ok guys the doc put me on celexa for depression and also a mood stabilizer. At first he said i was bipolar but now he said i am not. he said i am just depressed and that i am a nervous type of guy. Now I have 2 question? is it safe to have the occasional beer while on celexa? And why would I be on a mood stabilizer if i am not bipolar.

What would possess you to ask these questions on an Anabolic board?
I would think the Doctor that prescribed the meds would answer these questions best.

Ask your doc but in all fairness many on this board have similar problems and it is a legitamte problem to ask about here since it can definitely affect ones BBing. I think you'll be fine with the 'occasional' beer with celexa but ask you doc to be sure.

Are you "on" right now? If so that could be the cause of your problems. I'm with everyone else, check with your doc. As far as the beer I see no problem as long as it is occasional.

1) is it safe to have the occasional beer while on celexa?- yes

2) And why would I be on a mood stabilizer if I am not bipolar- your doctor is incompetent.

3) Celexa-does nothing to help alleviate depression/anxiety

See another shrink.

hey celexa does help people with anxiety. it may or may not work for you. if your doc put you on it, stick with it and see if it works. he may have put you on a mood stablelizer (which one?) becuse you may have some other disorder other than bipolar. bipolars arent the only ones that get mood stableizers prescribed to them. personally, i refuse to take any meds for anxiety. i have sever social anxiety. i think therapy would be a better option for me rather than depend on drugs- they just mask the problem (for my condition anyway)

On this note. I changed over a anxiety depression med that id been on very well for 17 years because I felt the old wasnt working. So doc put me on Paxil and phased out the old. For the next 5 months i felt like i did 17 years ago and thought id never be there again. Well without the doc know i went back on the old med at lower doses and things began to get better. The more i lowered the paxil and upped the old med i began to feel great like my old self. Most recently I returned to my original dose of old med and feel great. I cant recommend anyone playing with doses like this but ive learned this is the only way to find whats right for me. Else you could take a year or more of hell going back and forth back and forth with doc visits and just make them richer and you poorer, until you take the matter into your own hand and find whats right for you. My doc oks this so long as i keep him informed. He even said he believed that i may not have had to go thru all this if the med doc had taken serum levels of the med, they may have been bottoming out for some reason. Turns out i have to take acid suppressors for GED and some can definitely effect the absorbtion
of this med. this stuff is so plain and straight forward when you realize rthe true nature is a chemical imbalance. With the right experiments you can solve it(AND JUICE).

Celax is in the same category as Paxil, Prozac, and Zoloft which are selective serotonin reuptake inhibitors (SSRIs), in general, the antidepressants most suited for depressed patients to include anxiety and/or OCD behavior. I take it your on a 40mg dosage? Mood stabilizers are not strictly for bipolar disorders, they are also used in case you’re prone to seizures/panic attacks, mania or racing mind/moods. The racing mind symptom might be what he is attempting to treat, which does not imply that you’re having the large mood swings associated with bipolar disorders. Carbamazepine is now often prescribed for these instead of Lithium. For the anxiety prone it’s common to see drugs like Xanax and Helix prescribed (basically Valium). You shouldn’t be taking any of these anti-anxiey drugs with your Celax.

If you are likely to have a beer in a social setting make it a non-alcoholic one, if your friends give you shit about it say you’re on pain killers from a lifting injury.

I also agree with Nathan, depression and anxiety does seem to be a reoccurring symptom within the BBing community. Hmmm, might make an interesting correlational study between depression and gear usage in BBing.

mood stabilizer

Any idea on how the mood stabilizer will make me feel? the topamax is suppose to make you forgetful and also make you a little slower when thinking and motor function. I just feel that if I combine this with celexa that I will just be out of it.
