a friend w/hip issues!!!PLEASE HELP!!

i have a friend who has some problems recently. Please read below the copy of the message. Thanks. tb

"My hip is still bothering me from about 10 days ago. I did DE day for legs yesterday did light box squats if I keep a medium stance it is ok but I cannot go wide wide without pain in the indide of the hip. Deads are fine though did speed w/o with 365 no problems no pain. This is getting frustrating what can I do to help speed up this healing process. I am taking an anti-inflamitory now. The hip almost feels brused in the muscle. It is just odd I can run sprints no problem deads no problem narrow squats no problem - regular squats hurts like hell. Help
 
I've been doing wide-stance box squats for a couple weeks now, and have recently experienced a little hip pain as well. My overall flexibility is pretty far above average, so I've ruled that out, but make sure your friend is properly warmed up and stretched.

Right now I'm working on hip flexor strength, might want to check into that, too - using the multi-hip lever machine and doing weighted hanging leg raises.

Other than that I believe it's up to good ol' proper form. The week I started having the pain, I went a little too heavy on my last set and let my form break on my last couple of reps - didn't sit back enough, didn't go deep enough to touch the box, but stubbornly carried out those last two reps with stupid form. Oh well, live and learn. ;)

Hopefully someone will have something to add to this. :)
 
might want to consider doing wide stance squats with briefs on??? some guys on the power board would be more qualified to answer than myself though???
 
How about suggest that he do what you and I both have done recently. That is take a week off to heal and recover.

exactly. anytime you do something wide you should wear some breifs to support those hips, or else.
