Well yesterday looked like it was going to be another great St. Patricks days drunken bender. Then around noon we got the call that my paternal grandfather had passed away. He had been ill for many years and in and out of the hopital for the last five or so. All in all he is better off now since his suffering has ended. Unforetuneately I am not able to attend the funeral due to work but wish I could.
He was the oldest living member of my father's family and now my father is the oldest male and hence becomes the patriarch of the clan. Luckily we have had lots of time to prepare for this since we all figured he wouldn't have made it this long. It's still sad for my grandma as they had been married about 62 years. All in all he led a pretty good life and was a good honest man through all his years and will be remembered well.
