A few questions about Insulin, ALA, Ketosis, and Diabetes

1. What is the most appropriate way to reach ketosis using insulin (given that the risks are high)?

2. Can diabetics reach ketosis using insulin? Faster or slower than non-diabetics?

3. Can ALA be used in conjunction with insulin to reach ketosis faster, for both diabetics and non-diabetics?

As far as using insulin to get into ketosis, "Guy" posted this on cutting edge forum:

Insulin for Dieting:
Insulin can be used to get you into ketosis in 1 day. This really helps when doing any low carb diet. You will probably have to play around with the dosage to see what you need to get into ketosis.
This is what I do:
Eliminate carbs from your diet
Day 1 of the diet take 4 shots of insulin spaced 3 hours apart.
8am 2units of Humilin R
11am 2units of Humilin R
1pm 2units of Humilin R
3pm 2units of Humilin R
By the next morning I am deep into ketosis.

I'm not sure about the second question.

For the third question you may want to do some research on metformin as this issue has been discussed for that substance, the information should also apply to the use of ALA I would think.

Also, would the addition of ALA help maintain a ketosis stage (with a little more carb intake) after the initial day of carb deplating?

The best way to get into ketosis is to keep your carb into to zero-50g's!

Also, exercise does wonders in getting you into ketosis (go for a long walk or jog) that will burn up the rest of the carbs pretty quick!

This thread is about using insulin to get into ketosis, I am well aware of how to do it without.
