A change in Gyms

Well, today I did it. I decided to change gyms. There is a gym close to me that I have been wanting to visit because I heard they had nice equipment. I walked in the door and the first thing I saw was a platform, not just one, but they had three! Next thing that caught my eye was a reverse hyper, then a REAL glute-ham machine. As I was standing there , I watched a guy miss a big snatch and heard the plates crash into the platform. Of course I was waiting for the gym owner to walk over and give this guy a bunch of crap. But that did not happen, he did walk over, but instead of yelling about dropping the bar, he talked to the guy about dropping under the bar with more speed. That was it, I was sold.
Leaving my old gym is not easy. I know a lot of people there, I feel like an idiot , but it was almost like breaking up with a girl friend that you like, but you know it will not work out. Anyone else have this experience changing gyms, or am I even a bigger freak than I think I am?

I haven't had the experience yet, but I can see it coming. The gym where we train is filled with chalkdust and the sounds of plates banging. I hope when we finally move outta this place that we find another "hardcore" gym.

The gym that I left is not hardcore at all. Lots of strange cardio classes going on, sappy soft rock playing etc. But I have lifted there for two years. The guys who work there are real nice, but they cater to the rich cardio, light weight crowd. Which is good for them, they have tons of money and pay ther bills on time. Plates crashing and grunting are not what those folks want to hear. When I told one of the owners I was leaving, I did not even have to explain. He knew the gym I was changing to and why. It was just weird walking out the door for the last time

Lol.....man.....that does make me sad when I think about it.
Then I get these flashbacks with sappy music.
....visions of personal records long ago.....routine changes.....
*sniffle* :bawling:

When I move it'll happen to me too.

I usually am so sick of the people at any given gym that I welcome a change.....except the gym I'm at now, it is the first gym I have been at in years where there are people that train. I will miss it a lot when I move.

if i knew of a gym like that i would leave my gym and never look back.........i could give a crap who trained there how long i had been there or whatever........ me getting bigger and stronger is what i care about.

good for you.

I would love to have a home gym, but it would either have to be in my kitchen or living room and I am not sure it would be a good idea. Part of the idea of changing to this gym is to push myself, there are MANY people there that are much stronger than me. They have a powerlifting team, hopefully I can learn something from them. When I lift with people that are stronger than I am I always seem to make my best gains.

All right- for real, what did you take and how long were you out?!?

j/k- congrats on the new gym man.... I myself have my eye on one that looks pretty good to switch to, though it is more pricey than where I am now. Hoping to switch in a couple months.

Now I know you are talking non-sense!:D

The best gym is a home gym. . . you can focus on your own workouts. I am planning to build a home gym in the future.

A-men to that brother!
(as for a spotter.....that's yet, another reason I got married :D )
