to me it shows intelligence, that one is not augered to
a set of beliefs for life.
but maybe i'm not remembering the bro correctly, that's
why i'm axin' sonn

Yea i know bor. I used to be hard line gop, now Im just center right. I have views that are literally interpreted, not politically interpreted. I.E. When i say im prochoice, it means freedom of abortion, owning (and carrying) guns, drug legalization etc.
So what seem contradictory are really just all under the banner of "more freedom"

Eh, I just dont think that a few years ago there was much discussion regarding health care reform...which is what Im most "left" on. I have indeed changed a few of my economic views (not dramatically) based on research and through considering some other opinions...especially in light of what occurred between 2007-2009. I just figured rethinking opinions based on new evidence is part of growing, and what open minded folks do.

Id still consider myself a supporter of capitalism and the free market, but at the same time I realize that no system is inherently perfect and that some checks and balances need to be in place in order for things to run the way they should. For instance, see Hong Kong - consistently ranks highest on the "free market" list but has one of the largest income and wealth disparities of any first world country in the world. Something aint right there. At the same time, I believe in the business cycle theory. So I dont and have never completely subscribed to one particular ideology...I just learn about all the different arguments and support what I think makes sense - no matter who says it.

But yeah, re: health care Ive always supported a single payer system (not socialized health care, but socialized payment) because not only does it make sense IMO on a social level, but it makes sense on a fiscal level as well. Close minded folks for some reason cant separate one from the other.

It does seem like he's turned to the dark side.

I haven't given-up hope though. I can tell there is still good (conservatism) in him.

On a related note its all "Boo-fucking-hoo" tone with the local lib media coverage of the GOP shitstomping in this area. Good ol' lib austin media.

75th is showing how smart he is by staying off this thread.

Per my statement above, if someone asks what I am I still say conservative. From what I understand, a conservative doesnt give a shit about who gets married, what a woman does with her body, whether or not your do drugs, etc...because a true conservative knows its not his/her place to intrude on your private life.

Todays republican "conservatives" arent conservatives at all.

I agree with that, but there's a catch. If the government is forcing someone to pay for it, they should also get a voice in the process. I'd like to see social conservative issues completely out of politics, but for some reason we can't stop giving these people a ticket to vote.

Funny how the blue spots are where most of the people are, and the red areas are where there's a lot of wide open space.

Too bad real estate can't vote, huh?

yea the scoreboard (re:congress) might disagree with your
assement.

Army Vet approves of this message.

Another way to view it is property owners occupy red, renters occupy blue.

Exactly.

Conservative republicans are now called moderates.

Moderates are called RINO's or just straight out liberals, even if they aren't.

Conservative republican is now very close to 'right-wing nutcase'.

And I'm on a mission to make 75th a pink ass liberal!

b0und ( )

Funny then how the Senate didn't go GOP too...

look at it this way, in 2012 there are 33 senate seats up for grabs. 21 of those are held by the dems (the same dems who rolled into office in 2006). The GOP just gained 6 seats.
Voters (as of today) aren't liking the dems...if that keeps up it could get even uglier. The current split is Dem 52 GOP 46.

so yeah, they didn't take it now...but the groundwork is laid for 2012.

I like how bino salivates with frothy goppy goodness.
I think its always a good thing to have congress controlled by opposite party of president.
If only we could get the supreme court to be truly bipartisan instead of "the conservative" or "liberal" wing of the court. It really is a disgrace when all the justices are readily identifiable by party affiliation.

the math just works to the GOP's advantage as of today.
or it could backfire and obama coasts to victory, which is okay with me, as long as the gop's hold the house (which it will be hard not to the senate will be the hot ticket).

Shades of '96? Only problem for obama is hes no billy boy.

A lot of that depends on whether barry can triangulate.

(And hope that another $5 trillion bubble will hit like it did for clinton)
