Favre has made the Jets a Playoff team, sabathia came close to winning his second CY young, and lebron will be a Knick as he enters the prime of his career BTW.

No superstar looking to win is going to scrub team with zero guaranteed talent on contract in 2010. Portland has the best chance
 
no way dude, and the jets are still technically in first if the season ended today. Being a yankee will help sabathia in the long run, he'll get used to it being likea playoff game everyday. He's doesn't always choke, but Arod does! Any yankee fan would take brosius over him in a second.

I heard the Yanks got another Big name of the three available pitchers. They got CC and supposedly got another. Does anyone know who it was?
 
With Sabathia, Burnett, and Wang....the Yanks are going to be a tough team to beat. And when Halladay becomes available....you just know they're going to be the top bidder, it's lights out.
 
Atlanta just sweetened the pot for Burnett apparantly

I actually agree. I think sabathia will be great for 3 years, but the last 4 he will completely take up space. look at Bartolo Colon, another fatass that was dominant at one point (although he was def a juicer and not juicing anymore ruined his career).
especially with the amount of innings he's put up, he's destined for a short career. I don't think the yankees will ride him like the brewers did, but still


it's a big reason why the mets didn't go after him i think. They made that mistake with pedro already. However pedro's signing was neccessary as it completely changed the culture of the team and allowed them to attract other free agents and players via trade (beltran, delgado)

1. CC
2. Joba
3.A.J. Burnett
4. Wang
5. Pettitte

They will sweep many many series and lead the league in ERA. Last time they had a staff like this was in the late 90's having four possible #1
starters.

CC is 4th in wins in that last 3 years and 2nd in ERA in that time. Yankees are the really winner with the conomy tanking, sign these guys long term right now and they'll be bargain prices 2-3 years from now when the economy turns around.

when you're a fat ass like that, with that velocity it's almost physically impossible to not break down. He's a power pitcher, not a finesse guy like David Wells was in case you wanted to throw an example like that out there. Bartolo Colon is the best example. Cy young winner, straight up dominant....body broke down and became a nobody. NOw i don't think it'll be that soon or that extreme, but it's going to happen

Sabathia is like 1 year younger than Santana but Johan's best pitch is a changeup meaning velocity is secondary and he's a thoroughbred physically in fantastic shape. He'll pitch well into his late 30's barring a freak injury

exactly. that's the thinking behind the signing. a fiscally responsible team would never make that type of deal, but for the yankees it doesn't matter. They're thinking of the now and can throw money into the air. They want to win another series no matter what, even if it means overpaying.

giants are coming off a super bowl win, rangers are one of the best teams in the NHL and the jets aren't dead yet. Even if they are, giants could very well win another superbowl. As much i dislike the yankees, they're the most winning franchise so fuck off on teh NY hating

Anyone who's hating on the knicks right now has obviously not seen them play this year. They've had 7 players active for the last um...maybe 2-3 weeks and have been very competitive for the most part. They're a playoff team even before signing a major superstar. 2010 is going to be a sick year for them. Even if it's not Lebron, they have a very solid young core and have the room to sign two all-stars.

The knicks have been a joke, but D'antoni is a genius and so is Walsh. The team is nothing like the ones in years past and they have a ton of young talent. people need to watch games before they talk shit

um, you're kidding right?... it gave them a certified ace that they could always rely on for a win if the bullpen didn't blow it. problem is we didn't have another one of him and of course that miserable bullpen. Santana was nothing short of dominant. He would have had 20+ wins if the bullpen didn't blow a shitload of leads for him. He also get very little run support in the beginning of the year. Lincecm and webb had great years but santana's wasn't far off
