5x5 while "on"?

I have never run 5x5 before and am 3 weeks into a 12 week test only cycle. Had test flu the 1st week and 1/2. Finally getting over it. never even really had it before and I've got a few cycles under my belt.Would this be a bad time to start or should I wait for the next cycle or between to start. I'm sure being "on" could only help, but a little feed back would be appreciated.

Any thoughts/experiences?

I'm going to paraphrase madcow just a bit...

He says juice complicates things quite a bit (duh) and you have to time things just right to maximize retention of your gains. You want to have all the anabolics cleared out and then jump into a low volume/ high intensity mini-cycle (training cycle that is).

Check the main 5x5 thread (in the TOC)as this is addressed by the man himself. Consider this post a bump :)

Most people aren't familiar with truly structured training where volume, intensity, and frequency are all being regulated. So when you throw the task of matching your anabolic cycle to a structured training cycle it's fairly intimidating. I'm not saying it won't work better or as well but it's significantly more onerous in planning than just choosing some exercises to fill a split and going in and working hard for 10 weeks. Still, it's not like plenty of lifters and athletes all over the world don't handle this very well - it's just a lot to ask for someone new to all of this.
