5X5 warm-up question

I'm on the 3rd week on the 5X5 training. When squating, I'm not getting the warm-up needed. It starts me off doing 5 reps. with 250 lbs. or so. Then it's up around 300 lbs. Should I do 135 x 10 for a warm-up? It just seems so heavy with only the 250x5 before it. Thanks....

i do a warm-up before. my first set is only at 135, so i do the bar then 95. it is a good idea.

Absolutely right! The higher the weight involved the faster an individual will tire if too much volume is done.

My first set is always with the bar and it really doesn't matter how many reps I'm doing, it won't affect further performance. During heavy sets I'm only trying to concentrate on keeping tight form and putting as much power into the bar to keep my speed up. A warm up with the bar allows me to fully feel all the smaller muscles- to gauge just how well healed they are and how supportive I can expect those areas to be- it's purely a shift of concentration. It's also nice to have smooth knees as opposed to feeling as though I've got loads of pins stuck in them by repping too heavy, too fast.

hell yeah.....don't count 135 as anything towards your sets, but it is the mandatory warm-up for everyone.
