5x5 excel template

I have made an excell template from madcow's beginner 5x5 page. It does all the math for you, all you do is type in your 5 rep max for each lift and the rest is done by excel including your warm up sets for each lift. It is currently using a 2.5% increase per week for all lifts.

The only problem is since I just learned the program 3 days ago as I was making this template so I don't know how to get the numbers to be rounded to the nearest 0.5lb. Does anyone know how I could get excel to do this?

Also, on wednesday for the deadlift and military press, why are you only doing sets of 4 instead of 5 sets of these lifts? Since you are only doing them once per week shouldn't you do at least 5 sets?

Thanks.

When I get everything worked out I will make it available to madcow if he wants to put it for download on his website.

Hey, I've been kinda working on the same thing.
To do the round to the nearest 5 you first need to make sure you have the 'Analysis Toolpack' installed. Go to -> Tools -> Add-ins -> Analysis Toolpack.

You're then going to use the MROUND command. Search for this command in help, it'll show you how to use it. But basically you'll have an equation like this:
=MROUND(*, 5)
where the asterik is the equation or cell you want rounded, and the 5 is the multiple that you want the numbers rounded to.

Hope that helps...

Thanks for the reply. But I don't have the Analysis Toolpack installed and I don't have the discs to install it. I've read about the round comands but I need every number to be rounded and each week has 44 equasions in it.

All those commands alwaysget in the way of my equasions. Like where do I put the round command? eg =E16+5 (DOES THE ROUND COMMAND GO HERE?)

Rignt noe for instance, it will say Squat 96.9, 113.1, 129.2 and so on. I guess you could just round on your own but I'd like it to do the rounding for you.

Aside from that the spread sheet is done and I'm just waiting for madcow's approval.

Well, the only way to round the numbers to a multiple of 5 is to use the MROUND command specifically, unless you want to write your own script. So, if you can't install the analysis pack, I guess you'll just have to round them by hand.

ya, the more It think about it, I think it's better that for the actual spreadsheet that numbers aren't rounded.

That way the increases will be an actual 2.5% instad of being based on a rounded number. When using it you just have to round yourself like 135.1lbs would be rounded to 135 and a135.3lbs would be rounded to 135.5lbs... and so on.

Thanks for your help, I thought there would be an easy way to do it like some initial setting like how many decimal places etc.

There has been alot of intrest for this but I have been telling everyone I want madcow to look it over to make sure the numbers are done right, he hasn;t been on the board lately so please be patient everyone.

Can someone help me out with my question about the number of sets for the deadlift and military press on wed.?

Thanks.

man I'd like to dl this where is a link : o )

I assume there is one less set on those because it's the Medium weight workout so they lowered overall volume a bit to?
can't be sure tho I've read 5x5 over and over again and I still get lost

madcow has already done a spreadsheet for both the single and dual factor 5x5s, but he had to take it off his new website because of bandwidth restrictions. He said he's looking into it.

If that's the case there are many free file hosting places on the net. I have no problems finding a place to host it, I just want to make sure it's set up correctly before I give it to anyone to use.
