5x5/dogcrap/other lifting program on cycle

I posted this here for more responses and it has to do with my cycle

Today is week 3 of my cycle and I'm loving it. I'm doing a 5x5 porgram now and I'm up over 12lbs and strength is great.

Doing the 5x5, I only lift mon, wed, fri. I am getting great results. Since I'm on right now I do the core workouts but add in some extra assistance lifts because my muscle repair rate is unbeleiveable.
NOW for my question
Since I'm on, should I be doing a different program, like DC that has me in the gym more often? Since I repair so fast, am I wasting my cycle on only 3 days a week?

Tell me what you think is the best workout program for being on cycle?

essentially some variation of squats/benchpress/deadlifts (or cleans) 3 times per week at set/rep of 5x5. Each week you attempt to add 5lbs to each lift.

It is excellent for straight linear strength gain. I like the 5x5 but would prefer a split on cycle that gives me more volume on each muscle group.

Actually, needto says that he goes back to a 5x5 post cycle to aid in recovery. (less frequency but still plenty of stress)

Don't forget you gotta mix it up boys. I do a 5 day split too, but every 120 days we should make some kind of change in lifting style. 5 X 5 is an ideal. So is DC. I agree they are very intense styles. We ALSO need to incorporate lighters weights and more reps in your annual repertoire, OFF or ON cycle.
Keeping our bodies from adapting or getting used to any one style of lifting is key to growth, IMO.

+1

For instance i did Omega's chest workout for a few weeks and DAMN. Check it out, its a sticky in the workout section. Its a good example of what you might use to mix things up.

According to the science behind muscle growth and repair, the 5x5 is superior to the normal 5 day split, hitting each body part once per week. To make your muscles adapt it should be a progressive load constantly increasing weight each week.

For muscle growth, both the nervous system and muscles must be rested in order to repair. Also, hitting a muscle once per week is not ideal. Your muscles are repaired between 36-72 hours, so why wait a week before more stimulation. Your muscles will adapt and are forced to do so if they are stimulated again within that time period. When you wait a week to hit your muscles again, they have returned to their basal pre workout size and are much harder to make adapt to grow. I used to be a believer in the 5 day split, but I don't think I ever want to go back to that program

I do DC and can't wait to see the results of my next cycle. Unfortunately, I have to wait till mid October as I have a week long trip the 2nd week into the month. I will use that week as time off from the gym and come back and kill it.

Sounds like you're not familiar with DC, or you'd know that it doesn't have you in the gym more often than 3 days a week too.

yea actually read through it really for the first time today. I see that it is mon, wed, fri. Do you guys think lifting 3 days a week on cycle is enough? I repair so fast i love it. Im thinking about adding sat/sun on to my program. Right now i always add a few more assistance lifts to the core lifts. I just feel like i can do it, and im right because i really can.

if whatever you're doing is working now, it'll work even better while on. The biggest part people fail at is diet. You want to get bigger than you've ever been, you gotta eat bigger than you've ever eaten.
