565lb Barbell Hack Squat PR

Just hit 565lbs on the barbell hack squat a 20lb increase from last week. No one else seems to do these heavy. Just wanted to get my foot in the door You guys inspire me :leap:

I think it's a deadlift with the barbell behind you. I can't do them cause my hammies and ass are too big.

Good job on the PR. Do you feel these help your squat and dead?

yeah, hack squats are hard for bigger people. i tried them once. the bruised on my hams were enough for me to stop.

how does your hack squat compare to your regular dead?

Barbell Hack Squat is a dead with bar behind you instead of in front. My deadlift from the floor is only 465, and have gotten 495 by taking the bar out of the rack walking back with it taking it down to the floor and back up ( though I stopped doing this cuz I could see red veins coming from my knees). My hack squat is 100 pounds more and still increasing. I really took a liking to the exercise cuz of the amount of weight I can move with it. As for the carryover to other exercises like deads , and squats Im really not too sure since I was doing partial hacks on the power rack with 14 plates on the bar and just recently switched to the floor (maybe 5 weeks ago). Im definatelty hoping to get some carryover, they are exhausting for sure So hope they strengthen other areas as well. I do them once a week with ME deads. I either do deads on the power rack or off the floor, Like to switch it up. Currently I dont squat. I havent trained legs seperately in a while. I used to puke weekly when I did, will probably try some PL style squats sometime soon. ThanX for the replies It is very appreciated

Damn man!

I have never, ever, heard of anyone who could do more on a barbell hack than a regular deadlift.

You must have some strong quads and weak ass back and hips. - That's all I can figure out.

I bet that tear-drop down at the bottom of your quad is enormous though. Keep at it, but start working that back and those hips for the deadlift.

ThanX for the advice. My back seems pretty strong I seem to shift most of the load onto my back. Like I said Dont feel the excercise in my quads. With deadlifts seems my balance is always off and shins get in the way. ThanX again

man, i tried them today and just kept ramming the bar into my ass. Didn't really work out for me.

-walkingbeast that is sweet that you can do 100 pounds more then your dead on them

if you could ever post a video of yourself doing these it would be cool. If you have the means.

ThanX bro I was happy about that too the extra 100 pounds. If I knew someone with a video camera I would. Would be cool to post it here just to get everyones feedback (negative or positive). If the opportunity comes up I will for sure. It was awkward for me at first also. I began doing these on a power rack and got close to 700lbs then figured Id move them down a few inches to the floor. Just something I tried one day and it felt natural to me. So maybe that helped me with the confidence and technique somehow. Im sure its not the prettiest lift haha but it gets up to full extention. ThanX again for the feedback guys
