^^^ see title. did 455 x 5 then 495 x 1 and finally the big one.

Ass too floor , raw. Linder it's your turn lol

thankyouvermuch, no vids because I was training in a commercial gym today (too fucking cold in the garage) and I would have felt a dork bringing my camera. Shame really.

the gym owner wants me on their PL team which is pretty cool, theres a regional contest in March that I'd like to do if I can get my lifts up even more.

With weights like that you would be a good candidate for powerlifting.

What are you training for. . .sports? strength and mass?

POWER

Nah I just want to get swole, I'm trying to get my 1RM's as high as possible during the holiday bulking period then I'll switch to HST to convert the strength into muscle (hopefully)

cute name BTW :D

LOL

I might have to hand you this one for a bit... I MIGHT could hit 510 to parallel.. but that would be pushing it.

GREAT work man.

Nah I'm sure you could do it, you've got insanely strong hips and you blasted up 530 equipped like it was nothing.

Thanks bro :)

I'm tempted to try now though... 500 free squat has been a goal of mine for a while.

Keep the motivation coming man.

thanks beast & BBF if I recall right you're squatting over 500 for reps yourself so thank you too! :)

I'm 5'10" & 220ish.. been training for just over a year after a 5 year layoff due to back problems

Cool. Yeah, you are right on me bro. I've switched over to hack squats in place of squats until my waistline shrinks back down a bit, but my personal best is 505 for 5. I'm 5'9" and was about 220 at the time. I was only going to parrallel (I set the pins in the rack so that the bar is only about 2" below parrallel when it touches), so if you are going deeper then you already have me beat.

505 for 5 is awesome! How long did it take you to get there? I'm looking to get to 3 sets of 5 with 455 before I try pushing it up anymore... my joints can't keep up.

here's a vid of me bombing with 495 a few weeks ago that's got my depth.. I find stopping at parallel a lot harder than going all the way down for some weird reason.

So you find heavy squats thicken up your waistline? thats another thing im wondering about because I'm really looking to move away from the power stuff to more bb style training...

Tweakle, yes, for me its harder to go deep. Parrallel I've gotten 505 for 5, but could never handle anything heavier than 455, that I recall at least, going "hamstrings to heels" (I could get my butt about 4" from the floor) for more than about 3 or 4 reps.

The waistline could have been from a combination of heavy squats, deads and rack pulls, and I've cut all out and just do heavy hack squats and stiff legged deads in their place. Its very much a genetic thing. Some of us are just prone to develp obliques and other muscles from certain movements, while other guys don't. My waistline is trimming down again though, and I have it taping at 32". I've competed at 28", leaner and drier than I am now.

Anyway, I just read in another post that you are natural? If so, I'm impressed by your success.

It took me 3 years to hit that number, but I have good genetics and was on a prop/tren stack at the time. I don't always attribute my numbers to my work, because I have always been naturally strong, and have a cousin who benches 585 and does deep squats with 700 both for reps, and alot of strong guys in the family. Life isn't fair, and we are not all delt the same hand of cards. On the other hand, I'm hypoglycemic, very carb intolerant and have a history of compuslive over eating. I have to do a modified CKD year round or I blow up to 16 or 17% bf every time I bulk. So the trade off is that my diet is extremely clean year round, if I wish to stay lean.

Due to that, its can be hard to tell up front if they will thicken your waistline. What are your measurements right now?

For your joints, you might also wish to look into your diet. An n-6 to n-3 ratio that's too high plays a huge role in joint inflamation, especially in a heavy training environment. Make sure that you aren't eating a higher n-6 to n-3 ratio of 2:1 or that you are not deficient in any antioxidents. Try adding a couple tbs of flax seed oil, 6 g of fish oil tabs and a little more vits C & E, and eat more raw green veggies.

I hear you on the genetics thing - I used to piss and moan about how much of a poor little hardgainer I was (lol) but then I started eating 6-8 times a day and whadyaknow I blew the fuck up in a couple of months. My upper body isnt much but my legs have always been big probably because I ran track and played rugby in highschool.. I had 25" thighs before ever lifting a weight.

heavy squats, deads and rack pulls - shit those are the CORE of my training now and they're all lifts I'm relatively strong in but you gotta be objective about it.. they don't make the most pretty looking body. I used to have a 30" waist and a relatively small ass... now I have glutes like a hippo and a 35" waist!

AAP is another guy who looks great and he said he doesnt go over 405 for squatting so maybe it's time to cut back on the macho stuff. :(

thanks for the diet tips I'll add flax cod liver oil and a multivit and see how that works out

fish oil, not cod liver oil. You would have to take like 40 or 50 cod liver oil tabs to get get the same n-3 fats in 6 fish oil tabs (usually salmon oil), which would of course be enough vit A to cause liver problems.
