45 Degree Hyperextensions- Who Uses Them???

Does anyone use 45 Degree Hyperextensions to work their lower back, glutes, and hamstrings? If so, how are your results? I can't afford to buy a GHR for my home gym just yet(Maybe next year). So, this will have to do in the meantime. What do you think? Is it a good exercise???

You can do GHRs without the machine. You can put your feet under a bench, or in the lat pull down machine. You will probably have to do assisted negatives for a while though. VERY tough exercise. (Then again, I'm just a weak bastard, lol)

I also find reverse hyperextensions to be far superior to the regular hypers.

Thanks for the info, FZ! The reason I asked is I see www.elitefitnesssystems.com says the 45 degree hyperextensions work the same areas(glutes, hams, and lower back). I know it has no where near the effects that Reverse Hypers do, but it does seem like a good exercise.

i just started doing GHRs, and they're great!

i have trouble doing one and i'm lovin it. all you need is someone to push your feet down and start off with assisted negatives.

I have an inclined hyperextension in my house and try to do a couple sets every other day. One day, when I have my own weightroom, I will get a good GHR.

I believe Louie Simmons calls it an asissted leg curl when someone holds down your ankles. In other words, he doesn't recommend them.
My hamstrings get hit really hard with hyperextensions. The maid difference that I'm noticing is that I can use alot more weight on them compared to a glute-ham raise.

how would it be assisted if someone holds down your ankles? it's just as if you had a real glute pad thingy to hold your ankles down. assisted would be if someone took some weight off your upper body by helping you on the way up/down.

and yeah, i thinik i do have the wrong exercise. you guys mislead me with the "GHR"... i thought it was glute-ham raise. sounds logical enough don't it?
