They place their children in these pageants because they never won them or never competed when they were small. (most of them anyways)
It is like their dream being taken via their children.

I saw the Brit one a couple weeks back (my missus made me watch it!) totally fucked up, and they have 5-6 year olds compete with 12-13 year olds, muchos lame.

My kids will never be in pageants. The whole thing is disturbing. All of the moms on those pageant shows are disgusting fat slobs and they throw 2nd and 3rd mortgages on dresses, false teeth, fake tans and professional lessons. And for what? To be in miss teen USA, miss america?? No one cares about that crap anymore... really in the end the people who get those slots either have money or connections because NONE of them have talent, haha.

Its a lot of money to spend so that when your kid is 40 she can still walk with good posture and have a nice smile because thats about all you get out of it. fucking strange.
I find it deeply disturbing. The hair, the heavy makeup, even swimsuits. Looks like child porn to me. And the fact that the mothers usually appear to be the driving force behind the daughters' participation in those shows it the part I find most grotesque.

It's one thing to be into wanting to achieve a certain look for one's self and quite another to force your child to artificially alter their appearance. Dontcha think?
