Sassy69 said:slat - NEVER dis a degenerative disk .. I've developed a disk issue after having a rotated pelvis last year. Maybe nothing like what you are dealing with but I've done decently heavy leg presses my whole life and all of a sudden my chiro tells me to never do them again. Uh.... So I stopped most of my lifting during 3 months of chiro visits to get back straighted and then started racking on the weights again. I don't do much leg press anymore because I have a hard time not hitting my lower back just right w/o a weight belt, but we were talking leg presses of 405. But respect the back!
I've done the bulk of my detailed work (competition in 3 1/2 weeks) for the last 2 months with no heavy lifting at all. Aside from some squirreliness on the leg press, I've had no back problems at all. However my chiro still makes me come in every 2 months to get it checked. The "degenerative" part is the concern now.
slat1 said:Sorry to hear about the back. I know hearing "you can no longer do this and that" is tough to take. I was flat out told no running, squatting, dead lifts, shoulder presses etc. It can be really depressing. Its taken me two years to get back to where I am. The way I look at it is I have the rest of my life to work out. So why not do it right. I figure this way every year I get older I will look better than the previous year!
slat1 said:My ab routine is pretty simple.
Mon/thurs... crunches 2 to 3 sets
Tues/fri... ab ball 2 to 3 again
Wed/Sat... hanging leg raises.. 2 to 3 again
There is another thread that got moved here from the anabolic board that has my diet. Its not the best. It is very clean. Just not enough real food! I am in the process of redoing it.
nutsnack said:ure ab routine include weight or just basic crunches?? right now im bulking so i dont get the bottom 2 but the top 4 r there.. think i can tone them w/ leg raises or im screwed sinc eim bulking w/ 6kcals a day?
slat1 said:I just do body weight. Hanging leg raises definately hit the bottom nicely. I don't swing on them.. complete control. I bring my legs all the way up to eye level too.
I like to hit the top abs on one day... the bottom on another. The ball hits all the stabilizers too!
nutsnack said:ya i just started doing leg raises last week and they burn so bad when done right.. been doing the ball too.. im sitting at 7% BF maybe a little more or less and i still can't see my lower 2 abs, i think its water or the 6k cal diet :-/ i know they are down there below the little fat i have, just annoying that all my fat that i do have goes straight to my lower stomach
slat1 said:Fuck! I just found out that I have a tear in my bicep. I was told it was a strain and did rehab. So for the last year I have been working out with a lot of pain. I had a specialist look at my MRI from last June. He found the tear. I need another MRI to see how much damage I have done working out. No upper body for me for a while it looks like..
Cardio and legs it is... this sucks. Summer is coming fast!
nutsnack said:arent you only allowed 2 mri's a year or something? i heard that once but im not for sure! Well post some pics of the wheels now and again in a month or 2 since thats all ure going to be working out!!!!
slat1 said:I hope you aren't allowed only two MRI's in a year. I already have had two! They "aimed" it wrong the first time so I had to go back two days later. Lets just say they are not fun. I don't know how football players get them. I barely fit in the damn machine and I'm skinny!
nutsnack said:well be careful w/ the MRI's i hear there are quite a large number of accidents with MRI machines.. that magnetic field it gives off can turn metal objects into deadly projectiles!! I heard about a 6 year old getting one done and an oxygen tank was pulled into the machine and killed him! Also make sure the nurse doesn't have scissors on her!!thats why i am scared to get one but i thought last time i got one they said they wouldn't preform more then 2 on me a year when i blew my knee out and ended up w/ reconstructive surgery on it
