315lb Bench PR !!!

OK,
I've been lifting since I was 13 (28 now). I have since been anticipating this day. I've spent alot of time in the past few weeks reading this and other powerlifting boards picking up tips and learning technique. I decided that the westside program would be a good routine to follow so I bought Dave Tate's seminar videos (I highly recommend these to anyone interested in starting the westside program but doesn't yet fully understand it). I am planning on starting my routine next monday and today I worked up my bench to a 1 rep max as a starting reference for my DE %'s. I hit 315lbs! Previously I had been working up to a three rep max of 285 but this was the first tme I went for a 1 rep max in about 2 years.
I'm 6'5", 235-240lbs. My 1 rep max on the deadlift is 455 and I just started squatting again after about a year off, I hit 315 for 3 on my second squat day.
I'm going to bust my ass with this Westside program for about 12 weeks and see if I can report back with a 365lb bench.
Thanks for reading.
Posting this is a great motivation too.

doesnt it feel good to hit a goal and crush it. keep us posted on your workout and well help you with it.

Thanks. I'm basically going to follow the Westside program thats a sticky on the top of the page under workouts but I'm going to add some bicep curls on DE Squat day. There's nothing like a PR to get you motivated and feeling excited about working out again.

After re-reading my first post it doesn't sound very impressive considering my weight but I'm a classic ectomorph. If you saw me in jeans and a t shirt you would guess I weigh 190lbs. My arms and legs look really long and skinny and I could stand to loose a few pounds in the middle but who cares as long as I'm getting stronger.

DOnt sell yourself short man! One thing Ive learned from the elite group is NO REAL PL'r will disrespect you if your putting your heart into it.

THe best advice I can offer you is to try and find likeminded lifters to train with(even if it means driving half a day!)

Congrats on the 315 bench! 405 is on the way. 350lbs is my best unassisted bench, but have been lifting BB style, trying to learn the PL style myself. Its tough to change a form Im so accustomed to, unsure where to start. Congrats Again

Nicley done! Hitting PR's is always impressive, it's about you doing your best and not how you rank against anyone ellse. Keep it up.

Later........
