OK,
I've been lifting since I was 13 (28 now). I have since been anticipating this day. I've spent alot of time in the past few weeks reading this and other powerlifting boards picking up tips and learning technique. I decided that the westside program would be a good routine to follow so I bought Dave Tate's seminar videos (I highly recommend these to anyone interested in starting the westside program but doesn't yet fully understand it). I am planning on starting my routine next monday and today I worked up my bench to a 1 rep max as a starting reference for my DE %'s. I hit 315lbs! Previously I had been working up to a three rep max of 285 but this was the first tme I went for a 1 rep max in about 2 years.
I'm 6'5", 235-240lbs. My 1 rep max on the deadlift is 455 and I just started squatting again after about a year off, I hit 315 for 3 on my second squat day.
I'm going to bust my ass with this Westside program for about 12 weeks and see if I can report back with a 365lb bench.
Thanks for reading.
Posting this is a great motivation too.
