today out with the GF I was hitting drives over 300 plus. I play golf maybe two times a year but how good is a 330 drive strait?

I am unreal at mini put but my short game is terrible, keep in mind I never play. How long does it take to get real touch?

answer your last PM "greatest" and would anyone care to fill me in on just why frack is gone from here

A very long time when you don't play.

I play twice a week. I've been playing for 37 years and I go through cycles or zones when my short game is pretty good. I'm about 260-270 off the tee. Every now and then I catch one that will go 280-290 sometimes 300 but I don't count on it. Kind of like a bonus.

My irons is where I make up the difference for not being long off the tee. I tend to go for accuracy than distance.

Chipping and putting is where all the strokes are cut from your game. You have to play a lot to develop a touch from 100 yards in. A lot of practice on the range can help you there.

I have a love for the game that can't be described. It uses your whole body, physically and mentally and to me that is a challenge within itself.

A lot of mental midgets walkng around a golf course. They might be good but throw some money on the line and it will get in their heads.:D

300 yards is very impressive. But like everyone else said, short game is where its at.

HumorMe, what are you shooting these days? Golf is a tough game. I'm in young and in good shape, but after 9 holes I need to sit down for a few minutes. lol Cool to see you've stuck with it for so long.

Mid to high 70's. An occasional good round lower 70's but not very often.

Two herniated discs have been keeping from the course the last 3-4 weeks.

About a month ago, I played in my first night golf match. It was a captain choice round. Had these balls that had a green glow stick inserted in them. We teed off at 9:00pm and played until 1:00 am. Took alot of concentration to hit the ball but I did pretty damn good. Didn't chili-dip or miss one shot. Putted like a bandit and played real good. Cool expereince.:)

Great for the range.

Possible trouble on the course.

Until trees, bushes, water, traps, and doglegs pop up in front of you - being able to hit the long ball evens out with having to shoot out of hard spots. That is part of what makes golf so much fun, having to navigate the obstacles.

What good is a 300+ drive when you can't follow it up with a nice chip shot on the green.

I just began to play again after a 6 yr hiatus and shot a 91.

Oh BTW hitting straight down the fairway isn't fun at all. It's actually boring. I like to use the WHOLE course to my advantage. ;)
