20GB MP3 player or 128mb.. need help

I cant decide what mp3 player to get... i always wanted to get the various 128mb players ( becuase of the small size), but no matter how many reviews i read about the various 128mb (small ones) and the 10-20gb (large ones) i cant find one that seems to overal be really good other than the apple i-pod and i refuse to buy apple shit but even read a review that there was even problems with that over priced one. so i came acrosse the NOMAD JUKEBOX MP3 PLAYER 20gb its $260 vs $225 for the 10gb so i think its worth the $35 to get the 20gb... so far from the reviews I have read it seems to be pretty much the best so far and in its price range... the Archos jukebox 10/20gb from the review i have read seems to be total shit as well as some others.

any opinions on this brand of mp3 player? or any other info? im using the device for doing cardio and lifting, its not too big, maybe the size of a small CD player, which screws my idea of having a small player like the 128mb sizes, but the 20gb is just so hard to turn down. there is also a firmwire upgrade you can down load for free which gets rid of any problems that the Nomad has had in the past and that would make the Nomad virtually 100% positive reviews once that issue is taken care of.

i have had the 6gb nomad jukebox for about a year now. When i first bought it the firmware and included software was a huge pile of shit. the fucking thing took 3 minutes to turn on because, get this, every time you turned it on it verified every song on every playlist. So, if you had the same song on 4 playlists, it verified that song 4 times.

Also, when transfering files, many of the mp3 i downloaded from kazaa froze the transfer because of sync errors. the buttons on the player had horrible response time. also, the software that was included was a heavy shitpile.

NOW... about a month ago i downloaded the v3 firmware and it is a HUGE improvement. response time, bootup time, and file transfer are WAY better. the buttons actually make fucking sense now, too. It is LIGHT YEARS AHEAD.. I about shot a fucking load the first time i turned it on.

Some people say you have to watch for skipping, but the only time that happens is with hign impact activity like running, any cardio you do on a machine, or lifting, or bicycling, it does not skip at all.

the batteries on mine last 2-3 hours, and it came with two sets. I do not know if the new jukeboxes have improved this at all, but i never found it to be a problem, anyway.

BTW the EAX affects are fucking awesome, too.

Also, i use it as a usb connected hard drive when i bring software places, too. Also, there is a 3rd part set of dll's that some asshole in taiwan reverse engineered so there are developers who have built there own software for it, too. people have linked there jukeboxes through webservers and broadcasted music, etc.

as much as i HATE apple, and try my best not to support them, I own the I POD and love it. First of all it connects via a firewire port (i'm pretty sure all of the others are all USB) so you can transfer at a MUCH faster rate, I can sync my entire library in about 4 minutes!! If I were you I would bite the bullet and just get the IPOD- its been around the longest of all the hi-cap MP3 players, has all the bugs worked outta it, and in general kicks ass!

this mp3 player is the one I am looking at. while the cost doesn't give it much justice, the option to use a memory card with a larger capacity is very attractive.

I just got the Rio mp3 player for Christmas and I love it. It is 64 mb and has a 32 mb expansion card as well so it totals 96 mb. I got it from Cosco for about 140 bucks and it downloads and tranfers very fast. You can buy a bigger expansion card for it if you want but it can hold plenty of songs on its own and is skip free as well.

The choice is simple: Get a Sony Net MD MP3 Player. It stores the MP3s on a minidisk. One minidisk holds 5 to 8 hours of music and the the unit will play for 56 hours on a single AA battery. I bought one for my daughter for Christmas and wish I had gotten one myslef. They only cost about $130.00! This blowes away hard drive and memory card based players.

All I know is Tech TV recently did a review of MP3 players, and they said nothing comes close to the I-Pod, even for windows PC use...

Tried the RCA Kazoo player (64mb) + SSI card (128mb) = RUN. RUN & HIDE!!!! Piece of junk just stopped working altogether three months after I bought it.


My new one: Rio Digital Audio Player (64MB) + SSI card (128mb) = Nice. Small, easy to use. Whole setup is about $200. Runs on one (1) AA.

This gives me 2-3 hours of music - more than enough for a gym session. The 20 Gig IPod sounds cool - but why have the bulk and IMMENSE amount of storage unless you plan on camping out somewhere.
