one word:

BANGIN'!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

**im so glad i found a board that has awesome people who actually have taste in music---best suggestion ever---i cant believe i've been missing out on that place--energy was awesome, cant wait to go back---the only place in the northeast that has a little taste of south beach, unreal

That funny, that place really does remind me of southbeach a little. The vibe in there is absolutely sick. Did you finish off at temps or just stay there?
---PEACE---Mad Max

no, i couldnt hang till temps, i had to work monday morning :(
although temps looks like a great possibility for the 25th, whats the vibe like there? same as surf club?

i think surf club is ok. its nothing special. surf clubs prime was 1992-97. with mc beeda saying "WHO ROCKS THE JERSEY SHORE" i guess someone who goes for the first time it must be cool. surf club crowd is the same people that go to vinyl,sf & temps but now there. if your into seeing the same people evey minute of your weekend then this is the place for you. also you have the big shots drinking the CRYSTAL(lol). the music in the most part is cheesie there depending on if there is a good dj. the only good club in jersey is temps on sunday. saturdays suck!

whats so good about surf club? except that you have a place to get messed up on a sunday afternoon. if you like guys posing and girls who are hot but are caught up in the scene then this is the place for you. i dont feel i'm a high & mighty clubber but i have my opinions. i'm narrowed minded to think a place is no good because all the crackies are there. i judge a place on the people i'm with(most important) & music. if you like to go to be surrounded by a bunch of negative people go ahead. temps & sf is worse. i still like going out to see people i've met over the years , but its not worth it to me anymore. if your going out doing drugs to have a good time there is something wrong with you(i know its fun dropping, scooping & bumping). alot people who drugs try to forget about other things in there life. I'M NOT SAYING EVERYONE but i'm saying alot. i've done probably more drugs on this board then anyone so i'm not preaching. also i'm not someone whos never been out. i can still get in any of the clubs you guys talk about in ny/nj for free. i'm just saying from being at one time a big part of the scene that the grass is greener on the outside. fun is fun but what do you have to do to acheive it?

Bro, just because you got all caught up in the scene and it probably consumed your life doesn't mean thats the same for everyone else who goes out. I have a pretty balanced party life work life and time with friends outside the clubs. You can have your cake and eat it. I personally think merge is better on a sat. night than temps is.
---PEACE---Mad Max

the scene never consumed my life. i'm just saying what is so good about going out hanging out with a bunch of crackheads? whatever floats your boat. i rather go some where you can actually have a conversation. just my opinion.

ok first of all, i wasnt even fucked up @ Surf Club. i had 2 strawbery daquiris, i didnt need much else to have a good time that day, the energy was already there 4 me. im really sorry that you had some unfortunate experiences w/ "the scene" that has made u bitter. i was just excited about my first time there, i dont have to explain myself to anyone, ESPECIALLY to a hater like you baldbull. lighten up dude, you've obvious had too many cracked out experienes to know what a really good time is

i just want to kknow whats so good about it?

she liked it, leave it at that. you start going crazy because of some nutzo shit. chill...

so far you have always had a disagreement with most of the people on the club forum. take it easy tough guy

Baldbull I understand where you are coming from on this one. However, since at one time since you were so involved in the scene could you imagine someone back then telling you what you are doing is wrong. You probably would have told them to go fuck themselve. This is the stage a lot of these people are in. They still like the scene for whatever personal reason (drugs, music, girls, guys whatever). More than likely they will break free from heavy partying as most due to career enhancements, kids, family or whatever. Until then there is nothing that you or anyone can do to change their opinion. They will have to experience this on their own.

This is funny.

All I know is I went to Backdoor Bambi last night and heard some siiiickkkk 80's influenced tech-house. I have a life time supply of free passes.

What track is it that is hot right now that has the 'I Feel love' bassline filtered up and down? siiicckkk

Anyway, who's gonna be at Space on labor day weekend for Danny T? I'll be there for sure. You NY heads need to be in Miami for this one.

Peace.

im so jealous you will be at Space for Tenaglia!!! i mean the dude is Ivano's idol, its gotta be nuts. wish i could be there, i dont think i'll be heading down there until maybe October/November. miss the place so bad (space), i want a full report when you get back

What track is it that is hot right now that has the 'I Feel love' bassline filtered up and down? siiicckkk

do u mean that depech mode "i feel love" remixed? if thats what your talking about, i agree it is incredible. they have had a string of songs remixed that are ALL SO GOOD!!! free love, i feel love, dream on, and silence, are remixed into insane dance traxx. i like your taste in music, your lucky your live where you live :)

No I meant the classic track by Donna Summer produced by Georgio Moroder.

There is another Depeche Mode track I hear from time to time out...

don't remember how it goes, but the chorus is something like 'something something something cause we're in heaven'

I don't know. There's so much sick music out now it's ridiculous.

I'll bring a full report with my trusty cohort hippedy hop to back me up...lol

that heaven song is by depeche mode called "silence" remixed, deep dish played it @ space for their 4th of july appearance. absolutley insane. if you hear any new stuff down there, let me know, me and my bf try to keep up with miami sounds as much as we can up here, but you can only do so much!!!

Funny.....the thing I like about Surf club is that everyone is NOT f*ed up. Of course there are always a few bad apples who ruin the fun, but for the most part, everyone has decent self control. I think less people are on stuff then most other places, or at least they hide it better. Whatever, call it cheesy......then don't go. Call me cheesy, I don't care..........everyone else seems to like being around me. One person's cheese is another's treasure!

if your going out doing drugs to have a good time there is something wrong with you

Smart man

Someone with 1/2 a clue.....I guess there is hope after all

Good post bull.

tony & duchess, i have nothing wrong with you. what you like is what you like. i just have a problem the way most people think on this board. its sad when sf is considered the best club when all it is about is drugs. i know some of you will say its the music yata yata yata. BULLSHIT! the only reason sf is good because they give a place for guys & girls 18(maybe younger)- 100 yrs in to do drugs for 15 hrs a night. if you consider that fun then.......GOD BLESS!!!!!!

baldbull, while I agree that SF is a crackshack as a club, and that is precisely what annoys me the most about it, to some people it IS about the music......I hate to be partying at a place where people are dropping like flies and staring into space. But, for as much stuff as people do at SF, there are a lot of factory rats that have their lives together, have a good job, an college degree and beyond, have a great personality, and are there because it is comfortable and fun. I rarely see at SF or Surf or Temps what I have seen at cheesy places in Philly, Jersey etc. (as in people in Philly and Jersey have little or no self control). If you want to hear good music and get a good vibe, you have to be willing to put up w/ some of the negative things, but that hardly means that everyone that patrons those places is an addict or a bad person. I just don't like to be labeled b/c in reality, everyone there knows absolutely nothing about each other.

i used to be crazy into temps and hated surf club with a passion. i've since stopped frequenting temps or sf (which i miss every sunday morning when i wake up at 9 or so thinking i'd be getting home 4 or so hours from now if i was at sf). the scene is the scene, whatever. i think what has happened is everybody is into clubs now which when i was going out, it was alittle more selective. who really cares. the thing i need to know is, what is the attraction to surf club? i never understood that place. have fun where ever you frequent and do a huge bump for me.

anybody drive from temps to sf sunday mornings? i used to do that 2 times a month the entire summer for 3 or so years. that was fun.

Anybody go to Nikki Beach on Sundays in Miami. This is the place to be. Cannot wait until Labor Day weekend. Space saturday night, Nikki Beach Sunday. I am holding out.

duchess, i do understand. from 1996 -1998 i may of missed 6 total weekends at sf total(not also inluding arena, tunnell, surf & temps) . for 6 months straight i was home only on mondays(to sleep). i still go out and i enjoy it. but the things that bother me is when people say a club is good just because there on drugs or the club is based on drugs. thats how all clubs around here are judged now. how many times you been in sf & someone asked you how your family or job is? or does this sound more familiar what kind of pill did you do or can i have a bump. my opinion i like dj's on sunday. most of the people there are cheesie but i go with a group of friends who i dance & hang with. are the people you see out at sf or temps really your friends anyway or just the same people you see every weekend? so its who your with not who you see. they have guess dj's on sunday nights who rip it up(ojeada, rydell & more). and the best thing about it is maybe 2% of the club is on drugs. no-one knows how to dnace there & i do amuse myself watching them though. i do get annoyed with the drunk guy hiitting on my girl & seeing a girl puke but is there anything worse to ruin a high then seeing someone getting carried out of a club because they od? just my opinion.

Hey baldbull. Just curious if you were so hardcore back in the day what made you change. Did something happen like loose a friend due to drugs or did was it time to move on? Just curious b/c someone that was so into the scene usually can relate to people and understand where they are coming from. You sound a little bitter and I am curious as to why?

i always had a great time. i still like to part once in while. usally at a friends house(small party), but not often. i made alot of mistakes & never say otherwise. i had many friends including myself spending sunday mornigns in the hospital. but its not because i'm bitter, i like to think i'm just wiser. if i could go back & do things differently i would. all the money i spent & who knows what i did to my body(only time will tell). it just bothers me when i hear how good a club was because everyone was on drugs. when people say sf was sick it was open til 8pm. i'm like you were there til 8 on a sunday. sorry when your at any club for 20 hrs its just sbout the drugs. when i use to go it use to be a tight knit crowd & my opinion the SCENE was so much better. sf wasnt sf then & we just went there because we just did. now everyone goes there because everyone else is there. WHEN WE WENT OUT WE WERE THE SCENE NOW PEOPLE GO OUT JUST TO BE APART OF IT.

That is a very very stupid fucking assumption. I've hit SF sober many times and have hit it sober very recently. I don't need drugs to have a good time in there. That is just a stupid statement.

your just one person. i've been at sf probaly 500 times or more then you(not proud of it). i know from experience eveyone goes to sf because everyone else is there. also because you can do all the drugs you want there all night & morning long. i know & when you went to sf sober you were able to relate to everyone. SURE!

sc and tempts

Baldbull, thanks for explaining your story...you have now told us just why you don't like to be around the party scene...that is ok, everybody has there own thing...if you like djais because people aren't on anything (except alcohol, because God knows that isn't a drug), that is your perogative....i have been around the scene for over 3 years now, have been in the hospital 0 times and proud of it...i agree with you it kills me to see people being carried out (99.9% of the time because of G...but that is their stupidity and carelessness) i have had my fun, but moderation is key...i now like to go where the energy is and where at least 80% of the people there are dancing, whether they are on drugs or oxygenated water...it doesn't matter.....i agree with Mrs Tony, i love surf and i love tempts...the music is awesome and people appreciate you if you dance, there is very little negativity in the air....

Baldbull, blame some of the stupid things you have done on the scene....maybe you went to SF to do your drugs for 15 hours straight, everybody isn't like you...i too have gone to SF sober to hear JP rip it up...

do you not go back to SF because everybody is on drugs or is it because you can't be around people doing them without endulging yourself???..that is the question....or do you like to go to djais to hang with people who can't dance, so you can make fun of them and feel better about yourself???...that is such a shame, but you are you and you choose your life to live

just please don't characterize a place or people because of your experiences..

not everyone needs drugs to talk to people like you my friend.

i dont go to sf anymore because i feel its a place full of negativity. if you disagree with me thats ok but its my opinion. i go to djs because the scene there isnt based on drugs. i think people are just as sloppy on alcohol but the people you meet arent all about a pill, bump, scoop, juice or a tattoo(lol). i guess i'm a little older them most of you . i think now anybody who has $100 is in the scene now $30 to get into sf, $ 20 for 2 pills,$40 for jar of k & $10 for 2 bottles of water. i like djs because its fun to me. having to go to a club & do drugs just isnt appealing to me anymore. mac, your kidding yourself if your having a conversation with someone on drugs at sf when your sober. another thing if you consider someone you see cracked out on the weekend your friend? then i have a bridge for sale.

so i guess you just need alcohol to talk to people, that's so much better. sf has the best vibe around. and if you hit any nj club its just some copy of the sf feel. stick to djs and shut the fuck up about sf, we don't want ya

mac, i forgot more about sf then you will ever know. i can still go there & get in for free & get everything given to me free all night. your probably the kid down by the bleechers who knows no-one. just because you have the most posts on this boards doesent mean you know the most. i would run circles around you. do you have a picture mac maybe i know you. if anyone wants to view who i am look under aol profiles baldbull33. i'm very known in the scene but i choose not to be it anymore. at one time nothing was moved at temps, tunnel,sf & surf club that i didnt know about. yes thats what i just said. so get your facts straight mac maybe i'll teach you something. THE ORIGINAL BALDBULL!!!!!!!

you are gonna teach me something? teach me what?

like i have stated before clubbing is about having fun. why is that so difficult for you to understand? okay so now you think u know more about music and you were so into the "scene." big mother fucking deal bro. you know him and her, good for you. I go with my friends and i do know a good amount of people trust me. when i first started going and didn't know anyone i had a blast anyway.

i go to sound factory and i usually have a good time, that's what counts. i like the crowd, the music, the vibe. how you can argue that i don't know. just give it a rest man, we are not even debating about anything. u r done with the scene, i'm not. let it rest

mac, keep patrtying! i really do wish you the best. no hard feelings. just because i'm done dosent mean you cant have a good time. wish you the best!!!!!!!

Hey Baldbull just curious if you use to go to SF back in the day, did you frequent it when it was Juniors show. Definitely was a different scence back then and not really my scene. I started going in 1997 and lost a lot of interest end of 2000. Man oh man the girls in 97,98,99 were hot hot hot!!! Don't see that much anymore. If you were there during those years then you can benchmark what I am saying and understand. Otherwise the new partiers will think the girls are hot now but they really have no idea. Not really sure where they went because all the strippers love drugs and SF is a great afterhours. Back in the day Palladium was the place to be. If you are oldschool you will probably agree.

i get so frustrated when people talk about how great clubs USED to be, and how hot everyone USED to be, and how much better the music USED to be...i wish i wasnt born so late :( so what the hell clubs are in their prime NOW??? i mean other than Club Space in Miami, it seems like everywhere else is just not as good as it once was, this goes for the philly scene as well, and im sure other cities too. did i really miss that much?

Trust me I've been clubbing, DJing, and buying records for 10 years and the music is as good now as it ever was, dance music is the ONLY genre I know that gets re-invented and better year by year.

If anyone would like to disagree I urge you to present some support in the form of artists/producers, DJs, dance music genres that used to be better than know.

Maybe it's because I live in Miami and this scene is blowing up like never before.

hi, don't post much, but read often. i know baldbull personally and can vouch for all he has said. In my opinion, the scene has changed, but not necessarily for the worse. It is just different. Personally I think it's all what you make of it. Give me a place to party (afterhours), good music, and friends and I'm happy. The ny scene seems to be stagnant at the moment. Magilcutti was correct, factory has set the "norm" and other clubs, centro / float / lot61 / roxy / etc. have followed suit. This of course may be great for some, but not so great for others like myself who started in the ny scene when we had limelight, tunnel, usa, palladium (ARENA), mars, building, the original sound factory, robots, etc. There was much more variety back then.

Mrs. Tony- I'm happy to hear you enjoyed yourself at surf and hope you continue to have great nights out.

Magilicuti- hope you continue to have great nights at factory. I was ther last for the underwear party and had a great time.

Mackavelli- I was around for the last two years of Junior's original sound factory and can tell you I have yet to find a party which compares-

Baldbull- in case you don't recognize me from my screen name- it's damian. I think maybe we've both just outgrown it all now. Being married has certainly changed my perspective. Though I know i'll be making an appearance for Junior's B-Day and Arena Classics- let me know if you wanna go-

I agree with you that old SF partys were very good. I went to a couple in late 94, and in 1996 with a close friend of mine who is gay. I love to listen to Junior spin b/c his music is off the hook and very upbeat and always on point. JP can fuck it up, but sometimes he gets too wacked out and slows it down too much. The partys at old SF and Twilo were very very good, just a little too gay for me. I use to love going to Twilo and listen to Junior spin, I just hated having guys trying to rub against me etc. Also, the phazen sound sytem is unreal and unmatched. It gets annoying after a while and I can relate to what a girl must feel like at a club with men constantly annoying them. The partys were insane, but I don't like men flirting with me all night.

Mack- I'm petty sure that Sound Factory closed in 93 and later reopened as Twilo.. you may have experienced Juniorverse, which in my opinion was also a great party. I agree that's it tough to enjoy when it seems like all you're surrounded by is guys. But like I mentioned in my previous post, with great music (JUNIOR!!!!!), a nice space sound factory, twilo, tunnel, palladium (ARENA) and good friends.. it's a great time. I have actually not been to EARTH yet to hear Junior spin. I'm draggin my wife with me next week for his birthday. Should be a great time.

MaGilicutti- I was referring to the original sound factory at 27th st. it was not 93 but 95 rather (can't remember the month).. followed by the opening of Sound Factory on 47th street in 97. Is this not correct?

It was either Fall 94 or Spring 95 when I went. I remember the flyer it was The SoundFactory Bar. Junior was spinning. It was sick as hell. This is when Junior was peaking. The crowd though is definitely not SF crowd of today. Total opposite. As I mentioned a lot more gay.

Wow, sound factory bar.. almost forgot about that place.. i think it was on 21st.. frankie knuckles, dave morales were the residents???

Mackavelli- sounds like you're a Junior fan just like me- there is a 45m live taping of his from Sound Factory '95- not sure if you have it or have heard it. Let me know, I may be able to get you a copy

earth is really not that different.....I haven't been there since January, but I was there a few times after they had changed it in the fall. Make sure you check out the waterfall room (it is upstairs on floor 3 1/2--you will see what I mean). It is such a good vibe, almost a mini-version of the main floor that is good for a break from the madness downstairs. Make sure your wife is w/ you at all times. ;) My boyfriend and I have been to plenty of places, straight and gay, but he made the mistake of walking through the crowd to the bar w/out me and there were fingers everywhere if you know what I mean.....haha (now he knows what it is like to be a girl when we're out). Oh, and be prepared to be physically acosted at the door. I have been searched hard other places, but I haven't gone back b/c of what they did the last time. We don't bring stuff in, so that was not the problem. The problem was they touched EVERY part of my body, including fingering me and running their hand down my buttcrack and my chest. I was so shocked I did not know what to do until it was over! Just a friendly warning so you are not that suprised!!! :)

But other then that, have a blast!!! Exit on a good night is like no other!
