aight, this last workout i hit 135 in a 5x5. i got on a rep calculator, and guessed i could prolly hit up 10 reps of 135 before choking. it said my 1rm is 179, are these things bogus or what?? that seems hellu high for me, as ive never broke 135 in my life before even for 1rm. them two big 45's are as much as ive ever gotten. whats the call?? im gonna have to max out this week and see what i can do.
For me bench press has always been 10 lbs per rep - so subtract 135 x 5 reps becomes 175 x 1 rep. I'd say it's about right. I could hit 315 for 6 and 365 for 2; never tried 375 ever. Women have a shorter strength curve - one might hit 135 lbs for 10 but max at 170.
Sounds more then realistic if your getting 135x10. Keep in mind also that you may need some one rep max specific training to get used to maxing. Might take some time to get used to applying all your power into one rep, if you dont usually do it. Speed bench can help with this also.
hell yeah. ill spend the next chest day with a spotter and see what i can do, im sure it will take me a few max days to really get my max. explosiveness, no pause, and keep it tight. it that good stuff to keep in mind, and are there any other suggestions?
