Has anyone sent over $1000 through western union for gear? I know you have to show an ID. Is it safe to send more than 1k?

I have a couple times... No worries... You are having the "shipment" sent to your house, and you will be on camera at WU most likely, so the ID is not really hurting matters any... If you are gonna get busted, your gonna get busted..

I do it all the time, sometimes up to $6k, the "safe" part you need to concern yourself is who are you sending it to. I know and trust where I send mine.

I was just curious because i've been going to different wu stations and sometimes using fake names. Plus some curious ladies are like "Why are you sending money to a foriegn country?" I just tell them that I don't own a credit card and this is the only way I shop on ebay. Then I make up some fairy tale on collecting antiques and decorating my house with them.

you surely dont wanna send serious funds to pakistan, afghanistan, or any other muslim country for that matter (turkey being an acception as they're muslim but VERY anti-terror unlike other muslim countries).

but if sending funds within the u.s or to neutral/allied countries, suspicion should not be raised...

millions of people worldwide send money via western for very legal and legit purposes..
so dont assume everybody that sends/receives funds via wu is a criminal.

too much worry on this subject. i have read so many threads about people saying things about cameras in the western union areas. sending to foreign countries. and just being down right paranoid about the whole thing. now i'm not saying being paranoid is a bad thing but do you have any idea how many people send western union in a single day just in the u.s.? let me just say stop worrying. by the way, there should be no reason you should be having to send money to pakistan for any reason.
also, it is not illegal to send money through w.u., now for illegal purposes it would be way too much trouble for big brother to try and prove it. for our purposes.
